Grampian Instrumental Teachers!

Before our recent hiatus, the Grampian Youth Orchestra (GYO) provided a crucial link between local and national orchestras for young musicians. Anyone between 12-22 years from North East Scotland (born or studying in) was eligible to apply and we typically held an annual course consisting of one long weekend (Wed-Sun) at the start of summer, plus a play-day in the Easter holidays.

🎻Calling all young musicians!🎺

We are pleased to open applications for the Aberdeen City Orchestra Youth Ensemble, restarting in August.

Last year, the Youth Ensemble performed to two packed audiences at Midstocket Parish Church, the second of which was a side-by-side concert with the players of the ACO for a memorable performance of Sibelius' First Symphony.

This year, we look forward to hosting two more concerts PLUS a Tour to Belgium in the first week of April 🤩 We are extremely excited to show off the amazing talent of our young Aberdeen musicians in performances in Brussels, Ghent and Bruges.

Due to a lack of signups we have cancelled the Come and Play Day on Sunday.

Those who did sign-up should have received an email. We are sorry to disappoint you as it could have been amazing day of music making!

For future opportunities, please sign up as early as possible so we know numbers and can work to fill any gaps.

I'll provide an update after our upcoming board meeting in early February.

Come and join the Youth Ensemble for their debut performance. A short programme of under an hour, tickets are £5 on the door and children are free!

Please come and support these wonderful young musicians from a variety of schools across Aberdeen and Shire including St Margaret's School for Girls , Robert Gordon's College , Aberdeen Grammar School , Portlethen Academy , and more, plus pupils of Wee String School , String Studio , NESMS - North East of Scotland Music School and the Aberdeen City Music Service.

This event is free of charge.

Come and join us for some sizzling repertoire, including a look at 'Unprecedented Times', a new commission for GYO by the fabulous John De Simone, some Wagner and the first movement of Vaughan Williams' A London Symphony!

If you play one of the following instruments around Grade 7 level or above and you're interested in being part of an exciting new orchestra, get in touch! Spaces are limited.

Can you help? It would be such a shame for the North East of Scotland to lose it's 100-year-old Music Festival! Please pass this onto anyone who you think might be able to support NESPA.

Due to lack of volunteers, the Charity was unable to appoint sufficient Board members at the recent A.G.M. A date for an E.G.M. has been set - at 7.30pm not am as it says in attached pic! - and it is hoped that the charity will be able to attract volunteers by that date to allow it to continue.
