I’ve been making these little rolls this week, perfect for pens and pencils, make up brushes, paint brushes or crochet hooks. I’ll have some with me at the county show on Wednesday and more will be going to Celf Aran Arts in Dolgellau. celfaranarts

I seem to have gone all animal themed this week. Some cute little storage bags, perfect for the back of a door, a caravan or the kid’s bedroom.
The ‘books’ on the book bag have animal covers too, these are really popular and I’ve lost count of how many I’ve made.
These are all going to the Merioneth County Show later this month, by far the biggest show I’ve taken part in.
It’s being held in Dolgellau where you can find more like this and other fantastic work by local artists in Aran Arts, under the arches.

I like a challenge and tonight’s was learning how to use my buttonhole foot and put buttons on the back of this Harris Tweed cushion. I’m really hoping it’ll take less time next time, but it’s good to get out of your comfort zone sometimes.

What do you do with your scraps?
Well mine end up in all sorts of projects, cushions, bags, cards, the tiniest bits are saved and stored in colour coded boxes! Sad I know, but it’s ‘sew’ easy to find just what I need. Clean old pillows and duvets are used for stuffing dogs and cushions, old sheeting used to make cushion pads.

Vintage sewing machines and floral fabrics conjure up memories of my grandma. She was a formidable lady, large in every sense and had her dresses made for her. She always wore flowery, flowing dresses and filled the room wherever she was. I was gifted the machine panels and bought the floral fabric in someone's stash sale. I finally found a project to use them together.
