The event is held in the field next to Fermoys Garden Centre, Totnes Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 5TN. It is a registered charity which uses the surplus from each festival to make grants to local charities and organisations. Everyone who comes to Abbfest contributes to our charitable efforts through the money they spend. Since Abbfest started in 2004 over £250,000 has been distributed in grants, and in 2019 alone we raised £18,000 thanks to the efforts of our supporters, helpers and visitors. The organisations we fund include local sports and community groups, clubs and societies as well as charities providing support for cancer sufferers, hospices, animal welfare and emergency services. We aim each year to have every beer currently being brewed in Devon which means over 150 different brews to choose from as well as plenty of Devon cider, gins, wines and even a Pimm’s bar. Getting to and from Abbfest 2026 couldn’t be easier — our FREE shuttle bus service will be running across all three days of the festival!

👨‍🍳 LOCAL CHEF SPOTLIGHT – CHEF SWIFT 🔥

We’re delighted to welcome Ryan Swift – aka Chef Swift – from Dood & Frink to the Abbfest chef stage this September!

Ryan started his career in hospitality at just 16 in his family’s restaurant businesses before going on to work in Michelin-recognised restaurants, cater events for celebrities across the UK, make guest-chef appearances and consult for a number of restaurants.

Today, Ryan is the founder of Dood & Frink, a Devon-based events company built around his passion for brilliant food, great hospitality and creating experiences that are anything but ordinary.

Whether he’s cooking on a festival stage, creating a wedding feast or going head-to-head with another chef, Ryan brings energy, personality and plenty of fun to everything he does — so we’re expecting his Abbfest demo to be a good one! 🙌

❤️ £272,742 – THIS IS WHY WE DO ABBFEST ❤️

For one weekend every September, a field next to Fermoys becomes Abbfest.

There are marquees, live bands, brilliant chefs, beer, cider, food, DogFest and thousands of people having a fantastic weekend.

But this is what it’s really all about.

Over the years, Abbfest has awarded an incredible £272,742 in grants to charities, community groups, schools, sports clubs and other good causes.

From local village organisations to Scouts and Guides, sports clubs, churches, schools, community projects, animal charities and many, many more – the money raised at Abbfest goes back into supporting our community.

And that £272,742 has only been possible because of everyone who has supported the festival over the years.

Every ticket bought.
Every pint enjoyed.
Every sponsor.
Every trader.
Every volunteer.
Every person who has walked through our gates.

You have all helped make this happen.

So yes, we’re incredibly proud of the festival we put on each year – but we’re even prouder of what happens because of it.

And in September, we get to do it all over again. ❤️

👨‍🍳 TWO CHEFS, ONE ABBFEST DEMO!

We’re delighted to welcome Hannah Black from TIDES and Tom Cloherty from Portofino to Abbfest 2026, where they’ll be taking to the chef stage together for a special live cooking demonstration! 🔥

Hannah Black – Head Chef at TIDES, Abbey Crescent

As the daughter of a Brixham fisherman, Hannah has a genuine connection to the sea and a passion for showcasing the fantastic produce available right here in South Devon. Working closely with Brixham Fish Market and local suppliers, her cooking is fresh, seasonal, creative and all about letting great local ingredients shine.

Tom Cloherty – Head Chef at Portofino, Wellswood

Tom brings the flavours of Italy and the Mediterranean to the English Riviera, combining quality ingredients with bold flavours, creativity and plenty of personality. Expect colourful, generous food inspired by the warmth and energy of Mediterranean dining.

TIDES and Portofino are both part of The Ollie’s Group, an independent, family-run collection of Torquay restaurants owned and managed by brother-and-sister duo Oliver and Lydia Williamson.

We can’t wait to see what Hannah and Tom create when they cook together on the Abbfest stage! 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳
