❤ Glass_poet_painting_photo (he)artist I am Esther Femmigje Heslinga. I create and design stained glass, bowls, and glass art objects.

I graduated as a glass artist and I found the occupation where I can put my whole heart in, and I do this with much joy. Next to glass art I also write poetry, love to take pictures and paint. In the summer of 2011, I walked the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella, for me, it was a life-changing journey and it brought me so much inspiration and insights towards life that it influenced my w

ork. My main goal is not only to create beautiful unique art objects but also to inspire and make people aware of the beauty of life and of them self. Nederlandse vertaling :
Ik ben Esther Femmigje Heslinga en ik ontwerp unieke glas in lood, schalen en glaskunstobjecten. Ik ben afgestudeerd als glazenier. Ik heb eindelijk het vak gevonden waar ik mijn hart in kwijt kan, ik doe het dan ook met veel plezier.Naast de glaskunst schrijf ik ook gedichten, hou ik ervan om foto's te maken en ik schilder. In de zomer van 2011 liep ik de pelgrimstocht naar Santiago de compostella. Het was een levens veranderde reis en het gaf mij zoveel inspiratie en inzichten naar het leven toe, dat het mijn werk heeft beïnvloed. Mijn hoofd doel is niet alleen om mooie uniek objecten te ontwerpen maar ook mensen te kunnen inspireren en bewuster maken van zichzelf en de schoonheid van het leven.

I wanted to share a cake I made, it's a chocolate tonka cake with a layer of homemade blueberry and citron jam and coconut cream, and a cream cheese frosting with white chocolate and vanilla on top.
I wanted to capture the passing of summer into fall, like taking a walk outside, enjoying the change of colors in the landscape while catching the last sunlight on our faces.
And for the flavour, the chocolate with tonka for a warm undertone, and the coconut and blueberry reminiscing of the relaxing summer days.
I wish you a colorful change of the season🍁, that it may warm your heart♥️

I created this unique, engraved, and painted stained glass art piece called "Voyage de l'âme" (translation: journey of the soul) . This art piece represents a journey of healing, perseverance, and faith. Following the star in our soul that lights up a path, a trail that leads through uncertainty, an enduring faith that what is lost will be found again, and what is broken will be healed.
This art piece was created out of an older piece that was never finished, which I made just before my brother's death. Years passed, and then this spring I felt I was ready to reconstruct the piece and see what colors I could bring into the new one, and what would be discarded. There was already an agate in the older design;it's a symbol for protection and harmony. And I added an opal stone to the new design at the top of the head, a symbol of confidence and faith.
I'm happy the sun can finally shine through it. I wish you lots of l♥️ve, str🏔️ngth and h🌞pe this coming month.

I wanted to share a cake I made, it's a pistachio cake, with a layer of homemade raspberry, amarena, citron jam, and a cream cheese frosting with white chocolate and vanilla on top.
For the decoration of the cake, I tried to capture one of those morning strolls in the garden.
When the flowers are slowly opening their petals, what wonders come to peek through?
Everything is calm and steady, then a bird flies by, perching on a branch and starting its tune, welcoming the sunrise. For a new day has come, and I am delighted to be a part of it...💐

I got a call a week a week before going to the Netherlands for the celebration for my parents 40th wedding anniversary, if I wanted to create a cake for them, similair to the previous bollywood cake.
I made the same cake I shared last time; a carrot cake with apple, a layer of homemade raspberry, cherry and citron jam, and a cream cheese frosting with white chocolate and vanilla on top.
For the colors and looks, it was important it resembled a warm joyful feeling, celebrating their love. It has been quite a journey, lots have happened in those 40 years. Though, despite everything, there is this golden lining; like a sun, peeking through the clouds after rainy days; holding everything together, and warming our hearts.

I wanted to share a cake I made, it's a carrot cake with apple, a layer of homemade raspberry, cherry and citron jam, and a cream cheese frosting with white chocolate and vanilla on top.
The sun is slowly peaking out again, and temperatures are starting to rise, the flowers are emerging from the ground. Hope for a new year, for new possibilities. Yet looking at the news, gives quite the opposite feeling, lots of negativity, division, and problems that are piling up. I tried to refocus on positivity and thought let's try to make a new cake that reflects a bit of happiness. A couple days before making the new cake I saw a music video from India, with very bold happy colors. I wanted to do something with these colors, looking at it made me smile. I tried my best to recreate the colors, with an explosion of flowers, and a burst of flavor. If I ever had to name this cake, I would call it the Bollywood cake.

I wanted to share a cake I made, it's a red velvet cake with a layer of homemade blueberry jam and a cream cheese frosting with white chocolate and vanilla on top.
I still remember when I tasted my first red velvet cake, it was on a dreary rainy cold day in Nijmegen in February in a cafe almost more than 10 years ago. While I was seeking a warm place to sit, some hot chocolate, and my eyes noticed this cake hidden behind glass, I had to try it! As I took the first bite, the taste of chocolate and vanilla so perfectly combined, that it made me forget my cold hands and the worries I felt that day. After this cake, I tried many more red velvets, yet they didn’t match the one I had tasted that day. Until recently I tried to make one myself, and after some tries I found it. I’m happy, it is as I remember. On top of that, I added some extra flavor to the cake to create more contrast, and of course, decorated the cake with lots of cheerful flowers.

I created these four unique hand-engraved tea glasses. Part of the collection 'Creacycle', A collection based and inspired on recycled glass, to treasure all the left behind and forgotten pieces
Some time ago my tea glasses broke which I had for many years, and I needed replacements. I found these glasses in a second-hand shop, tucked away in a dark corner, these poor things needed attention and care. After some engraving and a good sop, they are back in use and cherished again. They are my favorite ones now, so I am planning to make more to add to the set.

Happy New Year all. I hope you all had a good transition to the new year. I spent it with friends and, of course, a cake had to be made.
I tried to capture my friend in a cake, she loves the color blue and is a big fan of the Lord of the Rings with its elvish theme. And for the flavor, I thought of something exotic since elves are from another world. I made a coconut cake with a sweet sour layer of homemade blueberries, citron and rose jam and a white chocolate cream cheese frosting with vanilla on top.

I Spent a nice Christmas with my family at our home. And next to preparing and making a nice dinner, a cake has to be part of it.
I am sharing with you a layered cake I made. A spice cake with a layer of apples, cherry jam, and on top a cream cheese frosting with white chocolate and vanilla.

Today, I wanted to show you a layered cake I just made. It is more of a late summer cake, though there is always space in my heart and tummy for a cake like this.
I created a pistachio cake with a homemade layer of red berries, blueberries, and citron jam. And on top of the cake a cream cheese frosting with white chocolate and vanilla.
Bringing the late summer vibe back into the colors and flowers.

I have been a bit away from social media. Though in the back I continued creating glass art. And next to glass I found a new passion for baking; creating eatable art. It’s interesting to make something pretty and flavourful and then you eat it, and it's gone. For now, i am still training to get better at it. In the future, I would like to combine these two art forms.
I love to create cakes with flowers, colors, and lots of details, with a bit of fairy tale, dreamy feeling. And very important next to the aesthetic it has to taste good.
I wanted to show you a cake I just made: it’s a chocolate cake with a coconut layer and a layer of chocolate ganache and on the top of the cake a cream cheese frosting with white chocolate and vanilla.
