One year ago, fire burned through Los Angeles and changed lives forever.
Today, we pause to honor resilience, memory, and the quiet power of rebuilding together.
This is Paula, a survivor of the fires, standing with her two sons in front of what was once their home. When everything else was taken, the chimney remained. From loss, she chose to create.
Together with Paula and her children, and under the orchestration of Goodness Tour co-founder , The Goodness Tour painted a mural on that standing chimney. At the very top, a hummingbird in flight. Along the brick, plants inspired by Paula’s garden, lovingly painted by her hands, her sons’ hands, and The Goodness Tour.
The hummingbird represents endurance, joy, and the courage to keep moving even when the world burns around you. This mural is not about erasing what happened. It is about honoring it, and choosing the colors of life and connection. Fittingly enough, the mural was destroyed when Paula’s site was cleared . A reminder that many times, beauty lies in a moment and the memory of that moment is more precious than the psychical object.
At The Goodness Tour, we believe film, music, and art are not luxuries. They are tools for healing. For people impacted by trauma, war, displacement, natural disasters, and homelessness, creativity becomes a language when words are not enough.
Today we remember the fires.
We honor the survivors.
And we recommit ourselves to turning sites of devastation into places of meaning, beauty, and hope.
Thank you, Paula.
Thank you to every hand that created art with us.
The story continues.
We also want to honor the photographer of this photo and for posting it.
