This weekend 'The Letters' and 'DaDa Letters' will be featured in a 'Carte blanche' event at the Aubette 1928 in Strasbourg, a building known as the Gesamtkunstwerk of Modernism. Actress Laura Lienhard and artist Céline Manz will bring to life the correspondence between Sophie Taeuber and Hans Arp in a dadaist performative lecture. Manz will also speak extensively about her research on Sophie Taeuber's role in the creation of the Aubette. Our publication 'The Letters' will be on display in the Foyer-Bar of the Aubette, the last still preserved room designed by Taeuber at the Aubette 1928.

The bilingual poster edition of Sophie Taeuber‘s essay ‚Bemerkungen über den Unterricht im ornamentalen Entwerfen. / Remarks on the Instruction of Ornamental Design.‘ is currently available at the shop of Kunsthaus Baselland, the librairie of the Centre culturel suisse as well as the shop of the Kunstmuseum Basel. The edition not only provides a rare insight in Sophie Taeuber's working process, it is also one of very few texts published by a female artist in the 1920s, an era otherwise dominated by published texts and manifests from male artists.
Taeuber's Essay 'Remarks on the Instruction of Ornamental Design' was published in 1922. For the first time available as an individual print, the text, one of only two texts published by the artist during her lifetime, offers an exciting insight into Taeuber's working and teaching methods. The bilingual edition German / English is presented in the form of typographic ornaments that are based on Taeuber's work.
