Getting the drinks reception underway in the Walled Garden for Lizzy & Jon. This was such a beautiful day, warm and sunny, lots of lovely folks, fab location… and ice cream being served. I love summer weddings like this! ☀️🎷🍦

I’ve totally fallen for this acoustic version of God Only Knows that I’ve been working on for a client… I can’t wait to play it as the they walk down the aisle.

It’s strange, when you’re so used to hearing a song played a certain way (like the original Beach Boys track, which is an absolute classic btw) you can fall into the trap of thinking it’s just that, and can only exist as that, if you know what I mean?

As great as the original is though I think this stripped back acoustic version with its little solo section in the middle is just lush, it really brings out the tenderness in the song. There’s nowhere to hide and the harmony can really shine through. Brian Wilson uses a harmony that is quite unconventional for pop songs, but it brings such a lush balladic quality and I’m loving it.

These guys were loving it, and grandma too! We partied as the sun went down, then it was over to the Fig House for the first dance and evening proper! I love sharing in moments like this, when everyone’s together on the same vibe. What a fab crew! 🙌☀️🎷🎶

First time for me visiting Shortflatt Tower, what a fab spot. I’m playing some chilled pop for Jenny & Jack’s drinks reception and then I’ll be picking the vibe up and digging into the house tunes for the cocktail reception after the wedding breakfast.

The suns out and the birds are singing… what a gorgeous day for a wedding. Fab team of suppliers supporting the day too! 🙌☀️🎷

Loving this one by Olivia Dean - So Easy (To Fall In Love), dropping it today as a Valentine’s spesh 😆💕 but I recon it’s gonna get played a bit this year! 🎷 There’s also another of Olivia’s that I’m working on, gonna be one of the new faves I think. It’s a shuffley gentle 80’s vibe… know which one it is? 🤔

It’s always a lovely feeling to reconnect with the sax, and playing music, after being away… it’s amazing how different things feel after just a week or so out! I’m playing a Bach kind of idea (I used to play a lot of Bach on 🎹 as a kid, love that sound), the wide intervals really force connection with the intonation (tuning) of the notes and it’s a good one for focusing on the sound through the registers… I always feel I’m too bright at the top end when I haven’t played for a while (so I’m working on that!).

It didn’t take long for my mind to wander back to the Alps though, chasing each other down the pistes and skiing into the sunset. We had the most amazing time on the slopes. It was Mrs C and my sister and some musical friends and

I wish I was back there now, up in the mountains. Then again I miss Roobs 🐾 terribly when I’m away, and I wouldn’t be here playing the sax… there’s always a push and pull!🎿🎷
