For the third of our series of recitals Melodies à la Mairie, SONGS OF WINTER features: Sally Bradshaw - Mezzo, Geof Cryer - Baritone, Geneviève Foccroulle - Piano. The programme includes works by Purcell, Debussy, Schubert and Grieg. Après les moments musicaux de cet hiver consacrés à Purcell et Palestrina, le Restoration Consort a le plaisir de vous proposer son concert de printemps. Nous allons balayer une période musicale plus large, avec des oeuvres vocales, a capella ou accompagnées, de compositeurs allant de Josquin des Prez jusqu'à JS Bach.

Le Restoration Consort, ensemble à géométrie variable, garde toujours le but de rassembler des fonds pour assurer la restauration du si bel orgue Puget de l'église de St Antonin Noble Val.

Nous serions heureux de compter sur votre présence : le dimanche 29 mai, à 18h, à l'église de St Antonin.

After the winter musical 'Moments' dedicated to Purcell and Palestrina, Restoration Consort is pleased to present their Spring Concert programme. We will perform works from a larger musical period, with a capella and accompanied works from Josquin des Prez to JS Bach.

Restoration Consort has been established to raise funds for the restoration of the beautiful Puget organ in the church at St Antonin Noble Val.

We look forward to seeing you at the concert: 29th May at 18:00 in the church at St Antonin Noble Val.

Restoration Consort is pleased to present approx. 45 mins of music from Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina.

Giovanni Pierluigi was born in the town of Palestrina, near Rome, then part of the Papal States. He started as a chorister at the Santa Maria Maggiore basilica in Rome, then studied with Robin Mallapert and Firmin Lebel. He spent most of his career in the city.

Palestrina was heavily influenced by the northern European style of polyphony, typified by Guillaume Dufay and Josquin des Prez, both of whom worked in Italy for many years. During this concert we will contrast the styles of Dufay and Palestrina.

This is the second of Restoration Consort's short recital programmes. There will be more throughout the year in addition to some larger concerts.

Geneviève Foccroulle is performing JS Bach's "Goldberg Variations" in Toulouse this weekend on both Saturday (Part 1) and Sunday (Part 2).
Many people will know Geneviève for the generous support she provides to choirs in the region and for her work as a piano teacher. This will give you a chance to see her performing as a virtuoso.
The concert is at Auditorium St Pierre Des Cuisines, 12 Place Saint-Pierre, Toulouse.

On 17th May, the Restoration Consort will be performing Taverner's magnificent Western Wind Mass in the catholic church at St Antonin. The choir has grown in numbers and is now ready to take on more complex repertoire, the like of which you will see usually only in Oxford, Cambridge or London.

The concert is staged as a musical mass, with the Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei interspersed with offertories and motets from Byrd, Josquin, Dufay, Messiaen and Duruflé. Sally Bradshaw performs the breathtaking Pie Jesu from Duruflé's Requiem accompanied by cellist Susan Urbita.

We will be using the church organ on a limited basis, though aficionados will note some technical difficulties which need to be "managed". Despite these shortcomings, we think it is important that people can hear the fine qualities of the organ - it truly is worth restoring to its original splendour.

So please come along and experience this excellent programme of music that is so well suited to the large acoustic of the church.
