For larger parties there are excellent camping spots around the house – £5-£6/adult/night in addition.

There is a visitor’s discount code for booking on Brittany Ferries. Last time I looked, there was good availability of cabins.

Very peaceful, stonebuilt farmhouse in the heart of Brittany. Set in 20 acres of ancient beech and oak woodland, river meadows, orchard, lake and farmland. 3 bedrooms, newly renovated bathroom, shower room and fully equipped kitchen/diner with dishwasher, microwave and fridge/freezer, washing machine and barbeque. Sleeps 6 + 2 sofabeds.

• Luhedec is situated between the villages of Lanvénégen and Querrien, north of Quimperle – search google maps with “Luhedec”.
• Roscoff 114 km (1h 40min), St-Malo 182 km ((2h 30min), Calais 665km (6h 30min)
Facilities
• Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, induction hob and oven, nespresso machine, all dining and cooking utensils, pans and crockery
• Dining room (attached to kitchen) with large table (seats 10+). Large dresser with crockery and drawers of maps, games etc.
• Kitchen/diner has double doors opening onto patio, garden and beech woods

• Quimperlé (15 km) – larger supermarkets (Leclerc, Intermarche, Carrefour), shops, Friday market, fish market, river, churches, gallery, tourist office and cashpoints
• Mountain biking – the surrounding area has many excellent mountain biking routes through forests and along rivers, estuaries and coast
• Beaches (30km) – including Plage du Kérou and Le Pouldu (with excellent seafood restaurant)
Background
Luhedec is a 100 acre farm with some land let to a neighbouring dairy farm. The house is a modernised original farmhouse with double glazing and shutters. The river Naïc bends round the farm on the north and east side and there are several acres of beech and oak woods. The farm is at the end of a 1 km drive, so it is completely traffic safe and quiet. There is plenty of space around the house which is mostly grass and a patio.
Outside
Outside you will find various paths leading to the woods and river meadows. The woods are wonderful and full of surprises. The river meadows, which extend for 800m, may have cattle grazing them. The river is usually very clean with brown trout and we regularly splash about in it. You may see kingfishers, egret, heron, water rat, wild boar, barn owls, tawny owls, hares, red squirrels, polecat and fish. You are welcome to fish, bearing in mind you should have a license if adult. The uphill barn can be used for parking. Below the buildings there is an orchard and lake.
CAUTION – there are deer ticks in the long grass around the house, woods and meadows. Avoid walking through long grass without keeping exposed skin covered with light clothing. Any attached ticks should be removed immediately with tic removal tool or loop of hair. The risk of Lyme disease infection is very low if precautions are taken.
