Ever wonder why some bass tracks feel huge, clear, and impossible to lose in the mix?

Here’s one of the oldest—and still one of the most effective—bass mixing tricks.

🎸 Split your bass into two bands. Add a high pass and a low pass filter at 250hz.
👉 Low band: keep it clean and controlled with a limiter.
👉 High band: send it through a guitar amp simulator to add grit, harmonics, and character.

Then blend them back together.

The result?
🔥 A rock-solid low end that stays consistent.
🔥 A bass that cuts through dense guitars without getting louder.
🔥 The best of both worlds: weight and definition.

Simple. Classic. Still incredibly effective.

The Biggest Stereo Guitar Trick You’re Probably Not Using

Most people reach for a stereo widener, a Haas delay or a chorus plugin…

But here’s a trick that sounds much more natural.

👉 It only works if your guitar was recorded as one complete performance.

Don’t record one verse and copy/paste it throughout the song. The tiny differences in timing, dynamics and picking from a real performance are exactly what create the magic.

Here’s the trick:

🎧 Duplicate your mono guitar track.

🎧 Leave the original untouched.

🎧 On the duplicate, offset the audio so different song sections overlap. For example, while the left speaker is playing the verse, the right speaker is playing the chorus.

Because both sides are playing different moments from the same continuous performance, they’re never identical. Your ears perceive a much wider, more organic stereo image—without any artificial widening plugins.

⚠️ It’s not a replacement for true double-tracking.

But when you’ve only got one guitar performance, it’s an incredibly effective way to add width while keeping everything sounding natural.
