Cécile Bart pursues a singular body of work that successively brings into play painting itself, the relationship between depth and surface, its modulation by light, the painting as a screen, the act of looking, and the viewer’s position.
She works with Tergal, a polyester fabric that she paints and wipes in such a way that it retains a degree of transparency, allowing the surrounding space to remain visible. Her works engage with the light of the site in which they are installed and transform according to the viewer’s position.
Cécile Bart lives and works in Marsannay-la-Côte. She is represented by Galerie Catherine Issert (Saint-Paul-de-Vence).
Seven works by Cécile Bart are presented in Salon Sonia alongside Karina Bisch, Audrey Guttman, Sheila Hicks, Josselin Vidalenc and Raphaël Zarka.
The exhibition is curated by Caroline Smulders and Yves Zlotowski.
