When couture enters the museum, heritage becomes creation. “Mon Seul Désir” by is more than a Haute Couture collection: it is a cultural dialogue between Paris and Rome, inspired by “The Lady and the Unicorn” tapestries at the Musée de Cluny in Paris. From medieval weaving techniques to contemporary craftsmanship, each garment transforms thread, light, volume, and memory into a new language of couture. A journey where the museum is no longer only a place of preservation, but a living space where history inspires the future.

Now open: “AZZEDINE ALAÏA and AFRICA”. On view from July 7 to January 4, the exhibition explores Azzedine Alaïa’s enduring dialogue with Africa—a lifelong source of inspiration that profoundly shaped his creative vision. Bringing together the iconic Spring/Summer 1988, 1989 and 1990 collections, the exhibition reveals a vocabulary of natural tones, braided raffia, shells and sculptural silhouettes—where craftsmanship becomes a poetic expression of identity and heritage.

The artist’s metallised pleated mesh works were made from 1982 through the 1990s. They comprise wire mesh, hand-pleated and then shaped into a precise form before being sprayed with vaporised metal and, finally, polished.
These forms are reimagined in the language of haute couture, with hand-plissé worked into fabrics including lamé, shearling, silk satin, denim and tulle.
