“Just the Two of Us” Mabsdrawlloween Day 30 Goth Moth

This is my first time wood burning. I have always loved the effect but had never tried it before. I felt it was time! These two moths are based off my long standing Drawlloween picture that I started in 2018 for my first Mabsdrawlloween and added to each year. It began with the two mice which were inspired by Arthur Rackham and then I let my imagination run free for each year after. You can swipe to the last picture to see it. This woodburning is my 2025 iteration of it. I must run off now and finish my last picture before midnight. Happy Halloween!

Mosquitoes After Dark: Day 15 & 28 Mabsdrawlloween Vampire and Swarm

This is a piece I started for the prompt Vampire and have finished for Swarm. While two mosquitoes may not adhere to the definition of a swarm, just two flying around your head as you try to sleep wreak havoc and may as well be a swarm. This is how I imagine them sitting on my bedside table after they have had their fill.

Poser Pumpkin: Day 11 Mabsdrawlloween.

Here is my little selfie taking, wannabe model pumpkin. I am a few days late as felting always takes longer than I think but I really wanted to post this little guy. He was created using the wooden, felting needle handle carved by Mabs father. I was honoured to have been able to get one when she sold the remaining batch. To create using tools that other artists have handmade makes the creation even more special. I also used the wool that Mab had included with the handle. Felting can be hard on the wrists and cause fatigue but felting using this handle made it seem like an extension of my own hand. No fatigue or pain. A tool made with love and a knowledge of how it was to be used. Thank you for hosting this club every year and for being so generous with your art. I thought of your father and you, throughout the creation of this piece. You have touched the lives of artists throughout the world with this challenge. I can’t thank you enough 💗

“Rabbit Moon” First piece of 2025 finished using my tablet and pen. Really love adding colour to my graphite drawings in this way.

This piece was inspired by my fascination as a young child with the Man on the Moon. The rabbit on the moon or Moon Rabbit is a feature in many cultures’ folklore. On certain nights when the conditions are right, the shape of a rabbit can be seen on the Moon’s surface from Earth. Sometimes up to three rabbit shapes can be seen. I have never seen one but every time I see the moon, I search for them.

Mushroom prompt for day 27. More adventures with digital painting. I drew this graphite piece a few years for and have finally added colour to it. I can’t believe we are nearly at the end of October. The time has flown and I still have to get a pumpkin! I call this one “The Morning Huddle: A Witch and her Familiars”

Hope everyone is having a relaxing, cosy Sunday wherever you may be.
