A little story and insight from this year. There are thoughtful Australians who have crossed my path since January who have been deeply engaged and incredibly supportive of what’s happening in Iran fully open to learning, regardless of their age or prior knowledge brilliantly they keep asking questions and keen to learn about Iran..really heartwarming to see them around me all the time since January often.
And then there are others who are completely dismissive, avoiding even the simplest question of how we are or how we feel knowing well, i was born in Iran and knowing most of the works I have made addressed the issues visually.
Some Australians go even further, pushing media-driven narratives and regime propaganda to my face as fact without ever considering that I lived in Iran for 22 years as a female artist under the Islamic laws, before the 17 years of my life in Australia.
I am slowly crawling back toward some sense of normal life, but goodness… this year!!!!!!😵💫.
