It was so nice and interesting to be on the visitor side this year. Thank you to all colleagues, friends and collectors who made these moments special. We will be back on the other side asap (when we got treasures at the level of a PDM show 😉)

We are pleased to announce our upcoming thematic exhibition at .brussels.

From 4 to 7 June, we will present a carefully selected group of stools from pre-1930 Africa, with a focus on architectural forms and their place within the wider history of global design.

Dear friends and collectors,

I am so happy to announce our new service for collectors seeking clearer, more disciplined decisions before acquisition: Signal + Note.

With Signal, collectors can submit up to 5 objects (online, from photographs, at auction, at fairs) per month for €100/month (six month minimum).
For each object, they receive a short independent opinion — a first filter indicating whether the object should be avoided, approached with caution, or considered further. This service is designed to be on the side of collector, all year long, to avoid mistakes at the first stage of the decision.

When an object is promising and requires deeper attention, the collector remains free to request a written Note (€350). The "Note" is a detailed acquisition assessment. It looks at quality, price level, visible risks, and relevance within a collection, and concludes with a clear recommendation.

This new advisory format is handled by email.
Kindly visit our website in the "advisory" section for details :

Granier | Ancient introduces Signal + Note — a discreet advisory format for collectors seeking clearer decisions before acquisition.

The service is designed for objects considered at auction, online, from photographs, or at fairs.

Signal offers a first independent filter.
Note provides a deeper written assessment when a serious decision is required.

The aim is simple: fewer mistakes, sharper judgment, and more coherent collections over time.

Advisory is handled by email and remains intentionally limited.

Can you see it?
This exceptional ethiopian headrest is actually an anthropomorphic sculpture.
First you see the gracious legs, leading to the feet deliminated by incisions on the platform. Then the raised shoulders and arms going down the platform.
Is there something missing? The head of course! That is where the artist had a genius creative gesture: the head is the actual head of the person resting on the platform. Mindblowing no? :)
More info on provenance (because it has this too) by PM or email please.
