“Anyway the thing is Stereolab . I had never seen them or heard their stuff. So I had no preconceptions. F**k I love that. I love not knowing stuff. I hung out and watched them close up at soundcheck but I had no idea. They were fkn incredible. Impossible to explain but it was a cool trippy syncopated extended funky dreamy loungey psychedelic French art movie. The way it all fit together was brilliant. And the sound was unbelievable. Fat clean slabs of direct input and dazzling textures, cool ultra tight time signature interplay casting a spell and they were quiet and studied and fearless with the gentle strong female energy of their French singer who is adorable.

The Metro was sold out on a school night and the crowd were as one and lifted the band high. Different ages and so much love in the room as everyone was getting knocked out by this amazing band. And I had no idea. It was a wonderful feeling. And the sight of that full house, the old Roma theatre, tiered up, packed tight and intimate, shoulder to shoulder, heart to heart, is one of the most beautiful sights I know.” - Branston Lee Pickle

Also announced today are reissues of the 1991 classic Today Wonder (with Mark Dawson) featuring the original version of Everything I’ve Got. The album has been long out of print on vinyl and CD and has never been available on the streaming services. The CD comes with seven bonus live tracks from a contemporaneous radio session in Holland.

And from 1993 The Aints second studio’s album Autocannibalism which has never been available on vinyl before and the CD edition comes with a bonus disk capturing the band live in Melbourne in 1990. The album will also be available on the streaming services for the first time.
