We’re delighted to welcome artist Juan TU to the 7th edition of RĂ©vĂ©lations as part of the REVELATIONS CHINA showcase at Grand Palais. With a deep sensitivity to both material and meaning, TU’s work opens a new space of dialogue between elements, forms, and time.

Trained in both ceramics and glass, Juan TU moves fluidly between two materials that differ in weight, texture, and temperature. In her hands, they collide and fuse—not as contrasts, but as co-narrators of a poetic story. Her creations are not simply technical experiments, but layered expressions of memory, transformation, and inner reflection.

Embracing the unpredictability of heat and cooling, her process reveals a language of subtle tension and delicate equilibrium. TU‘s practice is also an ongoing inquiry—each piece unfolds as a meditation on the relationship between tradition and the present, matter and spirit, solidity and light.

📍Discover her work—delicate, dense, and luminous—at the REVELATIONS CHINA booth R20 during RĂ©vĂ©lations 2025 at Grand Palais.

YAO Bangliang | Material as Language
We are delighted to welcome YAO Bangliang as one of the featured artists at Révélations 2025.

Working between tradition and experimentation, YAO Bangliang uses lacquer not merely as a surface treatment, but as a sculptural, spatial language. Trained in fine arts and based in Guangzhou, he brings a contemporary voice to an ancient craft.

Originally inspired by rural landscapes, Yao’s practice has since shifted towards a deeper inquiry into materiality itself. His works discard narrative illustration in favor of form, color, and texture—allowing lacquer’s unique gloss and density to shape quiet conversations between object, light, and space.

In his recent creations, volume and void become tools for expression. Reflective surfaces respond to changing light, subtly transforming as viewers move around them. Through this, Yao invites a non-verbal encounter—one that touches memory, emotion, and perception.

For Yao, lacquer is not a means of decoration, but a medium of reflection. His ongoing exploration of spatial installations and sculptural forms reveals the enduring power of craft in the language of contemporary art.

Mr. Seeker Li and His Abstract Embroidery

An artist rooted in Chinese philosophy, Mr. Seeker Li transforms Su embroidery—a technique dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties—into a contemporary visual language. Abandoning figurative motifs, he reimagines silk threads as dynamic lines, drawing inspiration from Chinese cursive calligraphy and abstract painting.

His abstract works break free from decorative tradition, using layered stitches and fragmented embroidery to evoke shifting light and texture. Through this poetic reinterpretation of ancient techniques, he captures the emotional transition from agrarian society to the complexities of modern life. For Mr. Seeker Li, embroidery becomes not just a craft, but a reflection on time, memory, and transformation.

In his representative series Four Seasons, each piece—years in the making—embodies the nuanced shifts of nature and time. Summer, with its irregular silk glimmers and bold compositional freedom, reveals a tactile dialogue between viewer and artwork. The subtle rhythms of silk echo the spontaneity of cursive script, where abstraction becomes movement. ïŒˆđŸ“· 7

Luo Baohua | Carving a New Chapter in Stone Art Between Nature and Technology

Luo Baohua is a trailblazing artist whose work bridges the raw forces of nature and the precision of modern technology. Born on the coastal islands of Taizhou, he draws deeply from the textures of the earth and the rhythm of the sea, transforming stone into luminous, poetic expressions.

With a background in mineral research, Luo developed a unique refining process that brings out unexpected color, translucency, and movement in stone. But beyond the technical innovation lies a deeper artistic vision—his creations explore the balance between organic forms and human order, between the slow time of geology and the pulse of contemporary life.

Luo’s approach is not only artistic but also ecological. He envisions a future where minerals are treated with care and reverence, embracing sustainable extraction and reuse through innovative methods. His work embodies a rare blend of material mastery, philosophical reflection, and social responsibility.

HUANG Wanbing | Weaving Time Between Nature and Culture

How can tradition be reimagined through a contemporary lens? How do material and the intangible intertwine? Artist Huang Wanbing offers a unique answer through her work.

A graduate of Central Saint Martins, Huang merges deep cultural sensitivity with forward-thinking artistic practice, continuously expanding the boundaries between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary experimentation. Rooted in China’s rich heritage, her creations explore the spiritual essence of materials. She transforms ramie fiber—an ancient textile—through weaving, tearing, folding, and stitching, imbuing it with new textures and vitality in a modern context.

Drawing inspiration from both nature and ancient philosophies, she sees her work as a dialogue between the physical world and unseen forces. By incorporating symbolic patterns derived from early Chinese cosmology, she explores the harmony between movement and stillness, tradition and transformation. Her art captures the fleeting beauty of balance, where energy flows between the past and the present.

“I embed myself in this flowing river of time, a small planet at the intersection of eras and cultures, carrying endless echoes and inquiries.” — Huang Wanbing
