💥 As the .ideale_ in Arles opens with great style, flashback to the opening in 2019 of its next-door, sister building also by architect Emile Sala, the stunning Villa Benkemoun

Galerie Miranda curated the inaugural exhibition throughout the Villa Benkemoun’s floors, presenting abstract photographs by Ellen Carey in the common spaces and vintage Merry Alpern prints from her famous series ‘Dirty Windows’ installed in the bedrooms.

💥 ‘Suricate’ (meerkat in French) is the name given by designers Tsé & Tsé associées to their latest design, this tall water jug and vase in Limoges porcelain.

This beautiful and endearing piece is exceptionally proposed at the gallery as part of a selection of Tsé Tsé designs that accompany the current solo show of photographs by Laura Letinsky ( #4- #7 here)

The gallery is miraculously cool and quiet given the crushing heat; sparkling water and fresh drinks served with pleasure to all overheated visitors 💦

💥 Sunday reseaching and rummaging; Alix Cleo Roubaud (1952-1983) is one of the fascinating, talented, articulate, elusive and tragic artists I have discovered in a long time.

Roubaud was a Franco-Canadian photographer and writer whose intensely personal work combined photography, literature, and philosophy. She died aged 30 from an asthmatic condition that brought much suffering during her short life.

I’ve read everything I can get my hands on; watched the short film by Jean Eustache; she is audacious, innovative and deeply intelligent. Looking forward to seeing more of it - Arles, or ??

💥With Valerie Bélin earlier this week on a cold evening at the Jeu de Paume preview. It is always a pleasure to meet Valerie, I have such respect for her work and career, and all the different chapters that she has explored. I think the car motors that she showed at the Fondation Cartier years ago were perhaps the biggest aesthetic shock - just great ✨
