“Iro to Kotoba” (Color and language) by Yasuhiro Ishimoto self published in 1984. a captivating series highlighting architectural colour variations and pure abstractions. A rare publication that showcases his early experiments with colour. Ishimoto sent this copy to Masahisa Fukase, along with a letter—part typed, part handwritten—inviting Fukase to take a look at his newly published book. ‘Genocídio do Yanomami’ (Yanomami Genocide) By Claudia Andujar recently published by Void. The photographs in the book show both the Yanomami and the landscape they inhabit. They were created with a variety of experimental techniques to visually represent the shamanic culture. They are often high contrast with dramatic light and shadow, distorted, cropped, imbued with a sense of movement, menace, and the otherworldly. 24 heures dans la vie d’une femme ( 24 hours in the life of an ordinary woman) published by Arthur Hubschmid in 1974. The series was created by the artist during a ‘photographic performance’ in which she spent twenty-four hours dressed as a woman and carried out the everyday tasks of a woman of her generation: cleaning, washing up, doing the laundry, waiting for her husband… A second aspect of the performance concerns the contradictory fantasies, ranging from the conventional to the subversive, harboured by this “ordinary woman” in the secrecy of her mundane daily life.

“I did not presume, by dressing as a woman for 24 hours, to lay bare the full complexity of the female condition. Rather, I wanted to illustrate a number of situations, to experience them with my own body, to prompt the public to ask questions, to show women how trapped they are, and to show men what they can do to a woman”.
