The first book on an innovative artist who uses modified typewriters to create abstract and colorful bookworks and paintings

Raffaella della Olga makes unique artist’s books using modified typewriters and multicolor ink ribbons on a range of materials—from tracing paper to photo paper to sandpaper. Della Olga (b. 1967, Italy; lives and works in France) worked briefly as an attorney before becoming an artist; now, seeking refuge from the limitations of language, she grinds down the characters on her machines and communicates through form, color, texture, and rhythm. Della Olga plays her typewriters like instruments, following a script in some cases and improvising freely in others. Her output includes artist’s books, typed paintings, and cut fabric works.

The first monograph on della Olga, this book features photographic documentation of her singular studio practice; two scholarly essays on her work in relation to conceptual and minimalist art, as well as typewriter art, concrete poetry, and experimental music; a conversation with the artist; and color plates of her work.

For “BLACK SABBATH”, a limited edition volume published at Three Star Books, Jonathan Monk has decided to throw a BLACK SABBATH fan tee shirt, soaked in black Indian Ink, onto paper. The stained sheets were then folded as pages to compose a book.

With this simple and direct gesture, Monk connects with the history of action painting: from the Gutai group, Yves Klein’s Anthropometry Performances to Nikki de Saint Phalle’s series of “tirs à la carabine”…
As all artistic performance that produces a trace or a souvenir of its own action, Jonathan Monk’s “Black Sabbath” and “Heavy Metal Paintings” are very expressive, delicate and seductive. The viewer projects in  “Black Sabbath” and “Heavy Metal Paintings” its very own experience and knowledge of heavy metal music and its inherent roughness and power as well as the history of action painting.

“BLACK SABBATH” by Jonathan Monk is a tribute to the great band that fueled the artist’s youth with raw power. Keith McMillan and The Bloomsbury Group created the iconic cover and logo of the revered album “Master Of Reality”. Monk is a fan for eternity.

Gerard & Kelly,
RUG

Published in 2025 in an edition of only 20 copies, numbered and signed.
It comprises 11 loose signatures housed in a 33 × 23 cm silkscreened fabric portfolio.
Printed on 300 gsm oyster pearl paper using Indigo digital offset and hand-applied gouache stencils.

RUG is a performance score by artists Gerard & Kelly spanning eleven tactile spreads, where architecture, cinema, choreography, and art converge. Inspired by their film “E for Eileen,” shot in Eileen Gray’s villa E-1027, it’s a poetic manifesto for interdisciplinary creation.

RUG fuses film stills, deconstructed patterns, and E-1027 plans with a hand-stenciled poem—meticulously arranged as notations for choreography and musical improvisation.

Housed in a silkscreened folder tied with fabric ribbons, RUG echoes the architect’s portfolio—both functional and full of possibility—paying homage to Gray and Badovici’s 1929 Maison en bord de mer.
