Paul Durand-Ruel

The other day in Paris, what an enchanting encounter with , direct descendant of Paul Durand-Ruel.
Flavie is in charge of managing the exceptional archives of Paul, who from 1865 until 1922 became the most celebrated gallery promoting l’Ecole de Barbizon followed by the Impressionist mouvement.
He sold in excess of 20.000 paintings during his lifetime in his galleries in Paris, London,Brussels and New York.
Just to mention a few, Monet,Sisley,Renoir,Manet,Cassat, Degas counted among his portfolio of artist he supported during many years.
The huge archives are intact, delivering amazing historical insight in the art market of Impressionism.
What a legacy, amazing.

Frank and Eliane Demaegd
Zeno X

Founded in 1981 , the celebrated gallery Zeno X , announced closing it’s doors in December this year.
What an amazing parcours they did, Frank and Eliane Demaegd!
Artists like Luc Tuymans, Michael Borremans , Marlene Dumas, Raoul De Keyser, Dirk Braeckman, Mark Manders and Jack Whitten among others were all promoted in Antwerp and international art fairs for years by Zeno X.
It’s a great tribute for an amazing group of artists.
Frank chose to stop the gallery to leave his immense legacy intact, like did Yvon Lambert, leaving only fantastic memories of what has been realised by him and his wife.
Of course we will deeply miss him, but his decision is wise.
Thanks Frank and Eliane for all you gave to artists and those passioned by Contemporary Art.
You made history 👏👏

Kröller-Müller

It was last March , actively preparing my next summer art tour with friends and art collectors in August.
The highlight will be visiting the fabulous sculpture garden under guidance of my friend Mickey Boël , who followed the initial stages of that sculpture collection since the 70ties.
Can’t wait to start, it will be fun and total share of passion for Art!

Oscar Niemeyer

I was deeply moved to discover the last oeuvre of the celebrated Brazilian architect, Oscar Niemeyer, on my last visit at Chateau La Coste in May.
Remember so well his personal town Brazilia, that i discovered in 1978 when living in Brazil.
He was also the designer of the most famous Praia of Copacabana in Rio where Philippine and I spend 4 years in the 70ties.
The Niemeyer pavilion at La Coste was finalised in 2013, one year after he passing away a year before at the age of 105y!
Amazing how fresh he kept his style, what a legacy for France.

Los Ultimos Carboneros

The other day at the studio of Stephane Noel, a photographer using the technique of gum bichromate , a multi layer process dating from the 19th C.
The technique used is halfway between photography and painting, where the artist can retouch the image.
It’s a very long process, all works are unique.
The result is breathtaking!
Stephane has exhibited in many places to promote his oeuvre.
Amazing!

Capucine

She is now 3y, my lovely Capucine , everyday joy of life.
Born on the verge of covid in 2020, amazing how she is becoming a sweet girl, at school now in Flemish , and so capable.
Proud of you ☺️

Vasarely Foundation

The other day at Aix en Provence , my chance to visit Vasarely foundation, founded in 1976 by the artist , left as his legacy to France.
I remember discovering his work thanks to Emile Veranneman in 1994 when we met, Emile was absolute fan of Vasarely!
The Foundation was classified Monument Historique in 2013, a much needed move to keep the monument and preserve the monumental works forever.
Thanks to for bringing me there.

Summer

The hectic art season is now behind, like I big wave getting smoother.
Next Tuesday starts Summer, perfect time for the family, for meeting friends and putting a halt on your profession for a while.

Let’s acclaim founder of Livina , Godelive Coigny, here in company with , who is supporting charity projects in India, Madagascar and Mauritius.
With the support of ,as head of design in Jodhpur , they created an atelier , a safe place where local ladies can express themselves and work together in harmony.

Amazing visit at the hidden studio of Anselm Kiefer, in Provence , in the middle of nowhere.
Breathtaking works of a very accomplished artist of our times.
It’s my last day with les Amis des Art, what a treatment in fantastic company.
