Angélique est de retour! La cour de Versailles est sorti du confinement lundi dernier, mais Angélique a fait de la place dans son emploi du temps surchargé pour répondre à toutes vos questions! Vous êtes déjà retourné à la “vie normale”? Besoin de tuyaux pour trouver la tenue qui époustouflera tous vos collègues? Un maquillage naturel qui dira à tout le monde que le confinement vous a donné la pêche, alors que vous l’avez passé devant la télé à manger du chocolat (pas de honte, on l’a fait aussi)? Ou peut-être que vous êtes toujours confiné, et vous cherchez désespérément des distractions!

Angélique BACK! 🥳 Versailles came out of confinement on Monday, but Angélique has selflessly decided to take some time out of her busy schedule to answer some more questions for you all! Are you also about to go back to “normal life”? Are you anxious, or excited? Need tips on how to dress to make a fabulous entrance back at work? Natural make-up to look like this confinement has made you healthier than ever even though you spent most of it eating chocolate in front of the TV (we won’t tell)? Bonjour mes chéri(e)s! (English below)

Je sais, ça fait trop longtemps, mais nous avons d’excellentes nouvelles! Pendant 10 ans, Burlesque Moulin nous a beaucoup appris, tant sur le monde du spectacle, l’art de raconter des histoires, que sur le bonheur de créer une vraie communauté autour d’un projet. Cela nous a donné envie de voir les choses en encore plus grand, et depuis un an, nous travaillons sur un spectacle immersif, “Let Them Eat Cake” (“Qu’ils mangent de la brioche!”), une fête qui vous permettra de revivre le glamour de la cour de Marie-Antoinette!

Qu’entendons-nous par “immersif”? Let Them Eat Cake mélange les acteurs et les participants en une pâte si moelleuse qu’il est impossible de savoir qui est qui! Costume, maquillage… nous nous occupons de tout pour vous transformer selon le plus pur raffinement du 18ème siècle, avant de vous emmener dans une fête royale où vous pourrez passer du bon temps avec des personnages historiques tels que Louis XVI, Lafayette, et bien sûr, Marie-Antoinette. Et tout cela avec tout le fun, le panache et le peps auquel Burlesque Moulin s’est toujours si bien prêté!

Nous refusons de laisser la crise actuelle nous empêcher de nous amuser, et nous sommes donc en train de transformer notre spectacle en diverses expériences en ligne. Hello my darlings!

It’s been so long, and we have such exciting news! The decade we spent working on Burlesque Moulin have taught us so much about showmanship, community, storytelling, leading us to take things to the next level, into a truly royal affair. For the past year, we’ve been hard at work building an immersive show, “Let Them Eat Cake”, a party that enables you to relive the glamorous hours of the court of Marie-Antoinette!

How immersive, you ask? Let Them Eat Cake melts the performers and spectators like butter and sugar until you can’t tell who is who! We will dress you, do your makeup, fully transform you into your finest 18th century noble self, and take you into the most amazing party worthy of Versailles itself, surrounded by historical figures such as Louis XVI, le marquis de Lafayette, and of course, Marie-Antoinette. All that packed with the fun, cheekiness and fanfare that Burlesque Moulin was so good at!

We refuse to let the current global crisis put an end to fun, so we’ve been busy taking our show online in a variety of formats. Right now, you can check our Cocktails with the Court videos on our “Let Them Eat Cake - the show” page and enjoy 30min chunks of fun with the characters of our show. "I just commented this on a transphobic post that was all like, 'In a sexual species, females have two X chromosomes and males have an X and a Y, I'm not a bigot it's just science.' I'm a science teacher so I responded with this.

"First of all, in a sexual species, you can have females be XX and males be X (insects), you can have females be ZW and males be ZZ (birds), you can have females be females because they developed in a warm environment and males be males because they developed in a cool environment (reptiles), you can have females be females because they lost a p***s sword fighting contest (some flatworms), you can have males be males because they were born female, but changed sexes because the only male in their group died (parrotfish and clownfish), you can have males look and act like females because they are trying to get close enough to actual females to mate with them (cuttlefish, bluegills, others), or you can be one of thousands of sexes (slime mold, some mushrooms.) Oh, did you mean humans? Oh ok then. You can be male because you were born female, but you have 5-alphareductase deficiency and so you grew a p***s at age 12. You can be female because you have an X and a Y chromosome but you are insensitive to androgens, and so you have a female body. You can be female because you have an X and a Y chromosome but your Y is missing the SRY gene, and so you have a female body. You can be male because you have two X chromosomes, but one of your X's HAS an SRY gene, and so you have a male body. You can be male because you have two X chromosomes- but also a Y. You can be female because you have only one X chromosome at all. And you can be male because you have two X chromosomes, but your heart and brain are male. And vice - effing - versa. Don't use science to justify your bigotry. The world is way too weird for that s**t."
