We’re having another movie streaming event 📽️ (for a belated Palentine’s Day!) to celebrate our favourite pals, you! The event is TOMORROW, February 19th from 7-9:30 PM EST, and we’ll be watching Mamma Mia to kick off The Hopeful Romantics’ dance month!💃We’ll start off with some games and mingling before the movie starts around 7:20! It’s that time of year again… The Hopeful Romantics Society is working on the second edition of our magazine! The magazine, titled As You Wish, will look at romantic comedies through a more critical lens, as well as publish creative works that are romcom inspired. We are having an open call for submissions, and we encourage anyone to submit. The second volume’s theme is… THE BACKDROP EDITION!! We’ll be talking about the locations behind our favourite rom coms (check out the Google Form for further details)!! Your submission doesn’t have to be strictly based on this theme, we are just hoping to inspire you with it! We are accepting the following submissions:

A labour of love, As You Wish is centred on the analysis of films and the genre of romantic comedies or films with romantic tones. This journal looks at romantic comedies through a more critical lens, as well as publishes creative works that are romcom inspired (e.g. poetry and other forms of art from our internal team and externally submitted). This volume, the Love-Hate Edition, is a product of our team's love-hate relationship with the current state of romantic comedies, but admittedly, our love prevails. Our team is so excited to have you read our critical reviews, poems and more fun surprises! ✨

One of our favourite Leos, Miss Congeniality herself!

Sandra Bullock is celebrating her birthday today!

We wanted to shout out her contributions to the romantic comedy genre! Bullock has been in hits like The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds, Miss Congeniality, While You Were Sleeping, Two Weeks Notice and Love Potion Number Nine. All fan favourites for sure!

We will be reviewing Miss Congeniality in this month’s newsletter, and also highlighting all of our favourite action Romcom blockbusters.
