The relationship between an artist and a dealer should be built on trust, like a partnership or even a marriage. The artist often plays the role of a husband, always seeking something better. It’s common to see artists, after being nurtured to success by one gallery, leave for another—especially at art fairs, where they start seeking “better” opportunities. This happens even when their current gallery has introduced them to the global market and provided major opportunities.

I find this deeply upsetting. Some artists treat me like I’m the Larry Gagosian of the Baltic states, reaching out after fairs with admiration for our work and proposals to collaborate. But for me, if an artist cheats on their gallery without our initiative, they’re gone forever.

My admiration for Erik Bulatov among pop artists stands out because his work transcends the typical playful detachment of pop art. Figures like Jeff Koons, Ai Weiwei, and contemporary Korean artists (Tomokazu Matsuyama were included in the show as representatives of contemporary pop art. My studies at Sotheby’s in the curatorial program have recently come to an end.
The curatorial program spanned eight weeks, each week structured around lectures, provided literature and articles, and various tasks. While the content was robust and knowledge-driven, I found it emotionally dry.
My friend and professor, Pehr—a curator from Stockholm—expressed several reservations about this study when we discussed it beforehand.

The New Wave of Art and History 🍌

All the art professionals I deeply love and respect are in a frenzy over Maurizio Cattelan’s Comedian artwork. But let’s be honest—this is more than just art. It’s a historical performance created by the crypto generation, a generation often underestimated yet obviously shaping the future.
It’s painfully difficult to accept, but the torch is necessarily passing to them. Whether we like it or not, they are forging ahead.
Take, for instance, Justin Sun (). He didn’t just buy a “Comedian.” He claimed a piece of history — the right to leave a mark on it.
