THIS IS US est un vaste projet photographique composé d’un corpus d’images mettant en scène des personnes, des lieux et des relations. Réalisées avec une Mamyia 645 sur un film Kodak Portra 400, les images racontent l’histoire de 30 adolescents romains, qui partagent tous le passé migratoire de leur famille et qui, par conséquent, ne peuvent demander la citoyenneté italienne avant l’âge de 18 ans.
The Room Projects s'engage à accompagner Maria Di Stefano dans la déclinaison parisienne du projet.
THIS IS US is a large photographic project composed of a body of images featuring people, places and relationships. Shot with a Mamyia 645 on Kodak Portra 400 film, the images tell the story of 30 Roman teenagers, all of whom share their family's migratory past and who, as a result, cannot apply for Italian citizenship until they are 18.
The Room Projects is committed to accompanying Maria Di Stefano in the Parisian variation of the project.
Project supported by the Italian Council (2022), Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity, Italian Ministry of Culture.

Nous sommes heureux d'accueillir l'artiste pluridisciplinaire Maria Di Stefano dans le cadre de notre programme Rooms.

Pour les prochains mois, Maria travaillera à la recherche et au développement de la version française de This is Us, un projet photographique qu'elle a initié à Rome sous le commissariat de Veronica He.
Projet soutenu par le Italian Council (11e édition, 2022), le programme visant à soutenir l'art contemporain italien dans le monde promu par la Direction générale de la créativité contemporaine au sein du ministère de la Culture italien.
Happy to have the multimedia artist Maria Di Stefano as part of our programme Rooms.

For the next months, Maria will work on the research and the development of the French version of This is Us, a photographic project she initiated in Rome and curated by Veronica He.

THE ROOM...

THE ROOM… is a research-driven nomadic space that focuses on the Uncanny through artistic creation and self-produced experimental projects. It has been founded in July 2019 by curator and researcher Alessandra Chiericato.

THE ROOM... does not aspire to have a fixed programming or a unique format: it must be seen as a hybrid, timeless and disturbing space where experiment, create, destroy, or explore familiar things always with a critical eye. By shifting the gaze to the different stages of research and artistic creation, THE ROOM... aims to be a catalyst filled by critical thoughts and introspective glances.

By organizing residency opportunities, exhibitions, podcasts, and other cultural projects, THE ROOM… wants to become a multi-platform that supports cultural exchange among visual artists, curators, musicians, writers,... to connect different practices and thoughts. And it does so especially today when keeping in touch with people, although virtually, is more important than ever.
