Inspired by a still life painting of a crab created by Van Gogh in 1889. I created this "Red Crab" from a social media photo of a newborn baby crab on Christmas Island. Also as a still life themed painting, I am concerned with the way images are appropriated, re-edited to generate new energy, and connected to a dialogue with art history through self-experience and perception.
