Set beneath the southern Italian sun, this exceptional Italian centre table becomes something almost surreal: a dialogue between stone, light, colour and movement.
Its radiant hard-stone marquetry top unfolds like a sun. Beneath it, gilded and carved wood reveals shells, flowers, ribbing and fantastical open-mouthed creatures — an extraordinary composition of ornament and imagination.
Made in Northern Italy around 1790–1800, the table carries the theatrical spirit of another century, yet in the stark simplicity of a Mediterranean setting, it feels unexpectedly contemporary.
