It’s a strange reality of being an independent artist: the very thing that sustains your work can also take it away from you.
I’ve struggled with the idea of selling my original paintings. Every piece is a month of slow, focused labor, and when it leaves the studio, it’s like losing a piece of the momentum I need for my next exhibition.
I started offering prints to bridge that gap. They allow me to keep creating, to keep painting, and to keep moving toward the next collection. I treat every print with the same care—hand-signing and writing a personal note for every single order.
To everyone who has ordered recently: thank you. Your support is the foundation that keeps me in the studio. You are the reason the next exhibition is becoming a reality.

"Pick a niche." It’s the most common advice for anyone building a brand, but it’s never felt right to me.
We are complex, multifaceted, and constantly evolving. If we limit ourselves to just one thing, we aren't just losing our audience—we're losing ourselves.
Whether I’m talking about bird rescue, traditional techniques, or the importance of slowing down, it all stems from the same place. It’s all me.
You aren't a algorithm-friendly category. You’re a person with layers.
What’s one side of you that doesn’t fit into your usual "category"? I’d love to hear it.

I’m starting a new project.
Before any color touches the washi paper, I spend time with the ink. Dissolving it, finding the right density, and waiting for the moment the brush is ready to move.
By stripping everything back to the beginning, I give myself the space to build something entirely new. It’s a quiet, grounding way to reset the month.

Surface (表面性)
I’ve finished my latest piece. Surface is a reflection on the social masks we wear and the quiet, often hidden feeling of not quite belonging in a crowded room.
It’s an honest look at my own experience navigating social events in Paris. A blend of traditional technique and personal observation.

Finally, I’m sharing the background of my latest piece: Surface (表面性).
For a long time, my Contemporary Kacho series has been about finding peace in the small details. But as an independent artist, my job has shifted to include networking and social events—spaces that feel very far from the quiet of my studio.
Surface is a reflection of those moments. It captures the feeling of standing in a room, watching the interactions, and knowing that I am performing a version of myself to build connections. The Chinese Lantern flower represents the deception I sometimes feel in these spaces, while the small objects—a paper cup, a toothpick—ground the scene in the reality of an event.
There is nothing wrong with these events, and there is nothing wrong with seeing them differently. This is simply my way of seeing.
I’d love to know your interpretation—does this resonate with your own experience of "social surfaces"?
