My latest was 3 years old and so much has changed in 3 years, so it was time to write another one!

Hello, hello!
My name is Margot, I'm a French watercolour artist and pattern designer based in Nancy, France!
I've had a few lives already, and I think it's great. I studied bookbinding in Paris in my youth and worked over a decade in London, UK, in that wonderful world. I miss it. But once a bookbinder, always a bookbinder.

After my wonderful years in London I then moved to Stockholm, Sweden, where I did a mix of bookbinding and waitressing.
Then COVID hit and I developed my painting and designing style, in order to keep my sanity.

I am now back in France, sharing my time between my art practice, my part time job as a welder assistant for the sculptor Jean-No and when I have time, I help my parents to renovate appartements.
I am about to start theatre again, after 20 years, and I am as excited as I am scared.

My love of travel is what inspired me to draw. All the azulejos from Lisbon and Seville, the Moorish art from Morocco. The beauty in repetion. The colours.

I enjoy sharing my tricks and "trade secrets" because I am of the opinion that more art = better world. So if you have any question, I'll always be happy to answer. In English, or in French.

Life in the art world is a weird one. Full of excitement and hopes, but also disappointments. I got told so many times that I must be very patient in order to do what I do. But I came to the realisation that I am not patient (oh no), I am just determined.

And that's it for today!
If you are new here, welcome to this page, I am glad to have you here 💗 If you have been following for a while, thank you, thank you for your ongoing support 💗

And credit photo to my lovely friend
It was taken at the where I attempted to paint a 5 X 1.4 m fresco (and failed, but that's ok)

Salon Habitat Deco Métiers d'Art Antiquaires : the end.

I'll do a recap post and appreciation post in a few days, when I'll have recovered both mentally and physically 😂 but what a weekend.

But one thing is sure is that I'm feeling grateful for the people in my life, old and new.

By the end of day 2... The progress on the painting is slow 😂 but the process of watercolour can be that slow! So all is good!

I unrolled the painting for the first time since I started it, as I never had the space to unroll it, and that was so much fun! But darn it is big. I'm gonna try to paint on the floor today, in order to achieve longer surfaces at once, and allow a better drying time. Let's see if it works!

Bring it on day 3!

Day 1 of the art fair was so much fun, people had such interesting questions, and I felt the appreciation for my work!

What a privilege to be here. Bring it on day 2!

A year ago, nearly to the day, I came back to France, to my parents, heartbroken and defeated. And today, I'm starting my biggest ever art fair, my name is written in huge letters there, and my face is in the newspaper.
What a change a year can make.

After stressing for weeks, months, about that fair, here it is. I feel really, excited and mostly, ready. Bring it on!

Barely three days to go before the show at 🎉Yes I'm super nervous but yes I'm super excited too!

Yesterday, I did the biggest update on my website I have ever done... I photographed (not perfectly, as always) and added about 90 paintings of all sizes. It was so much work 🥵 but most of the stock I have is now live.
At the moment, everything is listed as pick up only, but if you've had your eyes on something, please let me know. If you are ok with waiting a week or two for shipping, I can organise it then.
If you are after a framed work, especially the colorful paper frames, it would still exhibit it, but as "sold".
If you are after one of the many minis, then I won't show at all.

Then there's the question of if you are in the States... I don't know if I can even sell anything to you at the moment. But let me know and I can look into it (after the fair...)

While taking photos of my tens and tens of paintings prior to the art fair, my mind keeps wandering. I am realising that I have developed an appreciation for my own art. Not that I didn't like what I've painted! But now I am capable of thinking "oh woah this is actually GOOD!".
This painting is called Connexion, and it is 3 years old already. And I genuinely love it.
I really want it to go to a home that will appreciate it, but I also know that I will be really sad to let it go.

(I am also realising that during my years in Sweden, dear lord, did I paint. I often look back thinking that I was aimless during my Swedish years, but it is nice to understand that I did try, I did paint, I, actually, wasn't aimless.)

Things are shifting. Things are evolving. I'm looking straight ahead, looking forward to the art show, despite the stress. I don't know how my art practice will evolve after it, but one thing is sure, ill try my best.
