This afternoon we learnt silk painting at the French Fancies art group.
There's something exciting about learning a new skill.

A busy afternoon....
A big bag full of the fattest chestnuts ever...a further bag of quince, apples and crabapples.

First load of chestnuts roasted and ready to snack on later.
I'm going to try making traditional maron glace too.
And prep some to save for winter stews, Christmas stuffing, nut roast...whatever else I can create😊
Two different quince gins...one with cinnamon and one with ginger.
Apple clove and cinnamon gin too.
A few bags of apples prepped and freezing for winter crumbles and cobblers
Two big spiced apple tea loaves baking
Plenty of apples to eat
Crab apple jelly currently slowly dripping through the jelly bag.

Free food is wonderful...just takes a bit of effort sometimes 🥰

Sunshine salad for a grey day from cook book.
Our rocket is over, but nasturtiums make a pretty and tasty alternative
I couldn't get pomegranate seeds either so switched with blueberries...but tbh I like the colour contrast more.
Tasted even better than it looks!

I recently collected some fresh water kefir grains from and the heat is causing them to multiply rapidly!
I'm currently infusing with elderberries, blackberry and raspberry, ginger, Mirabelle and ginger, and honey.
I have 4 more jars on the go!
Luckily it makes a wonderfully refreshing drink that we all enjoy ( although judging by the fridge, we need to drink faster!)

If you would like some fresh happy grains to start your own batch, please let me know asap and Ill get some ready for you to collect.

Yesterday I finished the commission that I've been working on of
I was given clear instructions not to make it too realistic or like an architects drawing...so I let my imagination run a little wild.
We spend quite a lot of time at the Logis, it's a wonderful place. It inspires me to explore my creativity and refiscoymy inner child. There's definitely air of magic, freedom and joy there.
So I have tried to capture this in my painting...the tower encloses a traditional stone spiral staircase which I have hinted at by adding spirals externally.
You will spot all sorts of hidden images within the picture. These are all relevant to our lovely friends who live there.
The pictures I took to work from were taken from the ground. I wanted to create the perspective so that the building seemed to be curving out to you, to welcome you with an embrace and make you feel part of the joy.

I've really enjoyed working on this and am delighted with the final piece.
