About 10 years late & like a lot of folks in the biz, I dove head first into production during the Pandammic 2021.
I always wanted to produce but didn’t know where to start and I could never sit still long enough to learn/teach myself.
But as fate would have it… all I could do is sit and teach myself during that time! I started with a 303 & then added everyone’s studio favorite: The Korg Minilogue to the rack. Armed with these 2, a 49 key/9 channel DAW & limitless possibilities, I’m debuting a new kind of performance for myself.
As more and more DJs hit the clubs/bars each day, my goal was to find ways to set myself further apart from everyone else. To somehow be a brighter light piercing through the fog of local DJs.
Instead of complaining about the saturated dj scene all the time, (which I also do plenty of 😜) I wanted to use that as motivation to get out of the comfort zone and push myself to do something different.
I don’t think there will ever be some sort of destination with music/djing. I just want to practice the skill and become better and better at each time. Even after 15 years, I still think I’m getting better all the time. So if you’re just starting out, stick with it. It doesn’t happen overnight. You can’t build a house without a foundation so keep on building and keep on working.
