Dearest follower,

Our Comic Art Europe project comes to an end. For the past three years, we embarked on a comics journey and you joined us on our ride. 🎢

As images tell more than words, we have tried to summarize the last three years in one video. We had the pleasure to organise exhibitions, summer camps, open calls, ... and to bring the European comics sector closer together. Find our highlights in this video.

Thank you for following our project and for supporting us. 🧡💛

Stay tuned on our next adventures by following our social media channels.

See you future European adventures! 🚀🇪🇺

The last three years have been wonderful, full of comics adventures. We like to share a recap of these years with you.

A few weeks left to visit our global exhibition! 👀🇪🇺

Until 10/12/2023 you have the chance to visit the exhibition "Comic Art Europe: 10 emerging comic artists from Europe" at the Comics Art Museum in Brussels.

Curious how it looks? Emission BD - Kaboom made a video showing the exhibition and interviewing two artists - James Albon and Filipa Beleza - and Belinda Billen, the international projects manager of the Comics Art Museum. Most interviews are in French, but Filipa Beleza tells you about her work in English. Don't worry about the language, just enjoy the beautiful images of the exhibit.

Find all the information about the exhibition and how to visit at the website of the Belgian Comic Strip Center: https://www.comicscenter.net/en/exhibitions/gallery/comic-art-europe

Discover the hidden universe of Marine des Mazery Autrice BD/Illustratrice (France) by putting on red glasses, you'll see a blue universe emerge, try not to laugh at the witty cartoons of Filipa Beleza Illustration (Portugal) or dive into James Albon’s love language (United Kingdom). Filipa and James attended the official opening night and were so excited to discover the exhibit. Hopefully, you’ll be as excited as they were!

Come and discover all ten artists until 10 December 2023.

What a lovely month it has been so far, the perfect timing for a little recap. 👀

In the beginning of June, our exhibition “Living Together” opened its doors in Lyon. During Lyon BD Festival several talks and activities with the artists took place.

Artists Eva Pavlič and Štěpánka Jislová ART made live drawings at the Musée des Confluences, a museum that creates conversations between the sciences to understand the history of life and humanity.
Check out how concentrated they were working!

All 5 artists participated in a panel talk, discussing their works of art, which was followed by a guided tour of the exhibition.

“Living Together” just closed its doors in Lyon. But no worries, soon, you’ll get another chance to visit the exhibit: from September until December in the Belgian Comic Strip Center in Brussels and in September and October at the Lakes International Comic Art Festival.

See you there? 🟡🟠🔵

It’s finally here: a brand-new Comic Art Europe exhibition!

In a couple of days, you will be able to visit our newest exhibition. Back in 2022, together with 4 organizations, we’ve launched an open call on the theme “Living Together”. Artists were invited to reflect on their interpretation of “Living Together” in the modern world and illustrate it.

Five projects of five European artists were selected and you’ll finally be able to admire their projects in a global exhibition this June.

There will also be several dedicated events with the artists during Lyon BD Festival on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th of June.

Come and discover the wonderful work of Silvia L. Ballart (Spain), Bernard Hage, aka The art of Boo (Lebanon/Germany), James Albon (England), Štěpánka Jislová ART (Czech Republic), Eva Pavlič (Slovenia), all of whom went on residencies across Europe to develop their projects.

Visit the “Living Together” exhibition from the 1st of June 2023 to 18th of June 2023 at the Maison de l’architecture in Lyon, France.

Not able to visit the exhibition in June? No worries, you’ll get another chance from September until December in the Belgian Comic Strip Center or during the Lakes International Comic Art Festival in September and October.

Recap 'o clock! 🥳

Last month, The Comic Fair in Barcelona took place and with great success! They welcomed an astonishing number of visitors this year. 110.000 more visitors than the year before!

People had the chance to visit our exhibition “Visions of tomorrow” there. The exhibit was placed near the masterclasses, workshops and conference area, in a open space where the exposition was easily accessible and could be enjoyed in ease.

It was fun to see how visitors interacted with the exhibit, such as the red glasses to read Marine des Mazery's book or the reactions to Karrie Fransman's audiovisual show "Metopia Versus Youtopia".

Find out how it looked ⬇️⬇️⬇️

ORGANISE YOUR OWN COMIC ART SUMMER CAMP! ☀️

During the last three years we have tried to unite comics artists and organisations all over Europe. One of the goals of our Comic Art Europe project was to create a training and development programme for young comic artists and students across Europe. During the summer of 2021 and 2022 and put this into action by organising two summer camps.

During these camps, students spent a week together taking part in workshops learning how to make it in the world of comics. The main goal of the camps was to give an overview of and advice on how to establish oneself professionally in the field of international comics, liaising with publishers etc.

The Comic Art Europe Project researched different aspects of these summer camps: which parts were successful, which parts were less useful? These findings were recorded down in detailed reports. Today we are really excited to share the reports on the two Summer Camps with you. By sharing this information, we hope to help out other organisations to organise similar camps, or share ideas, to help young artists to take their first steps into the professional world. 🌎✏

Check it out on our website! https://comicarteurope.eu/summer-camp-report/
