▪️Meet: Petrit Halilaj

🇽🇰Petrit Halilaj, contemporary plasticien was born in 1986 in Kostërrc, Kosovo. He now lives and works in-between Germany, Kosovo and Italy.

🎨In his work, he shows both seriousness and lightness, deeply connected to the recent history of his country and his childhood memories as a refugee during the war.

🐤He loves everything that wears feathers: especially domesticated birds like chickens or canaries. Birds, a recurrent feature of his work, evoke a personal and utopic world.

🕊 History of a Hug by Petrit Halilaj is a sculpture of a human-sized white raven holding a piece of wood. It is currently exhibited at Kamel Mennour Gallery and takes part in an exploration of the colour white.

💭“From the time of war between Kosovo and Serbia, when I lived as a refugee with my family, I looked at birds with a sense of hope. »

🏳️‍🌈 For the artist, the white raven suggests diversity and resistance to change in the bid for acceptance. It is a metaphor of being a homosexual person whose love is not fully recognized by the majority of Kosovar society.

🏞She transformed the space into an artificial landscape made up of natural elements : a sculpture with cascade of colored ponds, islands of vegetation and a branch covered with lianas.

🌈The colored basins are completely covered with salt which create chemical reaction that the artist has no control over and hues change every second, to the rhythm of the water’s absorption.

💧Inspired by Mexican cenotes and other sacred sources, this indoor garden invites the viewer to a multi sensory experience.

🇿🇦Bianca Bondi is an South African artist born in Johannesburg in 1986, she lives and works in Paris, currently in residence at POUSH.Manifesto

🔮A fan of botany and magic from a very young age, in South Africa she initiated herself to metaphysical experiences.

🎓During her studies in France she discovered salt, capable of thousand metamorphoses, and it is now the center of her work.
