“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.” 🕊️ In a world that leaves us constantly searching for ‘more,’ Jesus offers a peace and a presence that truly satisfies the soul. Are we seeking the gift, or the Giver?

In this profound section of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus raises the bar for what it means to live a holy life. He makes it clear that He didn’t come to scrap the old Law, but to fulfill it—bringing it to its deepest, most intended meaning.
It’s no longer just about avoiding the outward act; it’s about the intention of the heart. 🛡️❤️ Jesus teaches that:
* Anger is the root of murder.
* Lust is the root of adultery.
* Integrity should be so deep that we don’t need oaths—our “Yes” should simply mean “Yes.”
He places a massive emphasis on reconciliation. If you’re at the altar and remember a grudge, Jesus says the sacrifice can wait—go fix the relationship first. Authentic faith isn’t about checking boxes; it’s about the radical transformation of our character.

Jesus isn’t looking for legalism; He’s looking for a righteousness that surpasses the surface level. 📈✨ He calls us to a life where our hearts are as clean as our actions, where we choose reconciliation over resentment, and where our words are rooted in simple truth.
“Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’”

Authenticity over ritual! ⚖️ In today’s Gospel, Jesus challenges the Pharisees and scribes who were more concerned with the external washing of hands than the internal state of the heart.
He uses the words of the prophet Isaiah to call out hypocrisy: “This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” Jesus warns that it is easy to “cling to human tradition” while completely disregarding the weightier commandments of God—like truly honoring and caring for our parents.
True worship isn’t about perfectly following “human precepts,” but about a heart that is close to God and a life lived in genuine love and obedience. Are we honoring God with just our words, or with our whole hearts?

“You are the salt of the earth... You are the light of the world.” 🧂✨
Jesus gives us a clear identity and an even clearer mission. Salt preserves and adds flavor; we are called to bring the “flavor” of the Gospel into a weary world. But if we lose our distinctiveness, we lose our purpose.
We are also called to be a city set on a mountain and a lamp on a lampstand. Light isn’t meant to be hidden under a basket, but to be shared so that everyone can see. Our good deeds aren’t for our own fame, but to point others back to the source: “that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.” 💡🏔️
How will you be salt and light today?

A sobering reminder of the cost of truth and the danger of pride. ⚖️ Today’s Gospel recounts the martyrdom of John the Baptist, a man so righteous that even his executioner, King Herod, feared him and « liked to listen to him. »
John was imprisoned for his courage in speaking the truth to power, telling Herod, « It is not lawful for you to have your brother’s wife. » Ultimately, a rash oath made at a banquet and the pressure of public opinion led to his death. Despite his distress, Herod chose his ego over justice.
John’s life and death teach us that the truth is not always popular, and following God’s path requires a « mighty power » that remains faithful even unto the end. His disciples honored him to the last, laying his body in a tomb as he paved the way for the Messiah.
