I got a birthday hat, a peach with a candle (close enough), unlimited cuddles and zero complaints… well, almost.

The past few days at the château have been all about creativity, colour, and staying cool… or at least trying to! ☀️

We were delighted to host a wonderful porcelain painting workshop led by the talented Chantal Mirabaud. Despite an exceptional heatwave, our guests bravely embraced the 40°C temperatures and spent their days creating the most beautiful hand-painted plates. Their dedication (and creativity) never melted!

Meanwhile, the garden is officially entering one of our favourite seasons. The first tomatoes are ripening, cucumbers and zucchinis are arriving daily, and the raspberry bushes are overflowing with fruit. There is something incredibly satisfying about picking produce straight from the garden and sharing it around the table.

As for the weather, 40°C is highly unusual here in Mayenne. Even the pool reached a balmy 30°C! Thankfully, it still offered a welcome escape after a day spent painting, gardening, and enjoying château life.

A few very warm days, many beautiful creations, delicious garden harvests, and lovely company. Summer has certainly arrived. 🌿🍅🍓

After months of waiting, the moment has finally arrived… ✨

Tonight, our château will be appearing on Château DIY Australia on Channel 4 UK, and we are absolutely thrilled to be opening the new series.

The exciting part? We’ll be discovering the episode for the very first time alongside you. We have no idea what made the final cut, what stories will be told, or what moments of château life have been captured.

If you have access to Channel 4 (or a VPN for our friends around the world), make sure you tune in tonight and join us. From the gardens and workshops to weddings, special events, and the everyday reality of life behind the château walls, there may be a few surprises in store…

Un week-end pour flâner dans les jardins, découvrir les floraisons du début d’été et profiter du château dans l’une de ses plus belles saisons. Des massifs en fleurs aux paddocks fraîchement coupés pour le foin, le mois de juin est toujours un moment magique ici.

Nous vous ouvrons les portes les 6 et 7 juin pour les visites des jardins au Château de la Carrière.

Today we celebrate the force that is Suzie Jackson.

The woman brave enough to leave Australia, take an enormous leap of faith, buy a château on the other side of the world and slowly bring it back to life over the past 11 years.

Through endless renovations, challenges, muddy boots, collapsing walls, beautiful gardens, unforgettable dinners and thousands of guests welcomed through these doors… she has remained steady, calm and endlessly pragmatic.

Suzie has this incredible ability to face problems without panic, to keep creating no matter what, and somehow still cook the most delicious meals in the middle of complete chaos.

She is strong, inspiring, generous, creative and truly unstoppable.

We are all very lucky to experience the world she has created here at Château de la Carrière.

There’s something about this time of year… everything starts moving again 🌿

A week in pictures —
the food, the tables, the garden,
the workshops, the sunshine,
and little excursions in between.

We’re fully back in the rhythm of the château,
days that flow from the potager to the table,
from meeting strangers… to sharing something that feels a bit special.

Feeling very lucky to be here,
and even more grateful for the wonderful humans who pass through and become part of it all ✨

There’s something slightly wild happening in the garden this week… 🌿

The unusually warm weather has pressed fast-forward on everything. Buds we were waiting for quietly… are suddenly everywhere. Flower beds are filling up overnight, colours popping in layers, and the whole garden feels a little more alive each morning than the last.

It’s that fleeting moment where everything is just about to peak — and we’re trying to take it all in before it races ahead again.
