A new member joins the collective.
Dmitri Kourliandski is a composer. Born in Moscow, he has lived and worked in France since 2022. His chamber, orchestral and opera works are performed worldwide, and he is a fellow of the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin this year.
What he is after has a name: objective music. His pieces are often static and repetitive, because he treats a work not as something that unfolds but as an object, a visual phenomenon, an installation that occupies a space.
He joins us with the last creation of the 26/27 portfolio, Espaces bruts. Re-inhabitation.
Six connected rooms, in a basement, an industrial site, an abandoned building. Refuse bags on the floor. Six scenarios unfolding at the same time, each with its own sound and image. Every figure is a mannequin, every projected image is still. Which means that across the six rooms, the only living body is the visitor's.
The sound material is made of discards: unfinished recordings, rejected fragments, digital artefacts. Recycling and re-inhabiting are the same gesture.
At the entrance, each visitor gets a badge with their number and their time of arrival, and takes it away. Neither a ticket nor a souvenir, but a piece of the work that goes on existing outside.
Welcome Dmitri. Dmitri Kourliandski
