Real talk: making art is amazing, but the PEOPLE!! The people is where the magic hits. You think you’re signing up for a week of free workshops (which, yes, you are), but what you don’t expect is how much the community becomes the heart of it all. We laugh. We cry. We cheer each other on. By the end of the week, it feels like summer camp for your creative soul (with goodbye tears and all).

Over and over, I hear this from participants:
“I didn’t realize how much I needed this.”
“I finally found my art people.”
“This felt like coming home.” 👈 this one gets right to my heart ❤️

So yes, you’ll pick up new supplies. Yes, your art will grow like wildflowers.
But what stays with you long after? The humans you meet and the bonds you build and the support you didn’t know was possible in an online space 🤯

This is our chosen creative family! And the door’s wide open 💛 We start a whole week of making art together next Saturday. Can you believe it’s almost here?! YAYAYYAY!

I’m gonna tell you why you better come to SCR 😉 If you’re new around here, Summer Creative Retreat is a free online workshop event that I’ve run for six years.

Actually it’s WAY more than that.

It’s six FULL days of workshops from over 50 incredible artists all over the world.

It’s attendees from over 100 countries that come together to make art alongside other creatives.

It’s embracing creativity in all of its perfect imperfections. It’s connection and it’s freedom and it’s permission to play…

It’s 100% free.

And it’s the hardest work I do each year, and if I’m honest, this year has been the hardest anddd it’s clear I’ll need to bring help in for next year (lemme know if ya know a guy 😅) Despite all the moving parts, the exhaustion that I feel is the good kind.. the way that is pure and nourishing to the soul. And I’m so grateful that y’all let me be a part of your creativity because omg it’s the best part of what I do.
