What a nice surprise this morning to see The Seattle Times coverage of Freeway Park's anniversary, including comments and photos of sketchers who joined the Urban Sketchers Seattle Group there Saturday for the celebration. I had a great time and look forward to return to make more drawings!

Over the last 50 years, the park has become an urban oasis connecting First Hill with downtown — but the road there hasn’t always been smooth.

Few buildings in Seattle say “history” as much as the Original Rainier Brewery in the heart of the Georgetown neighborhood. On this cloudy afternoon, I was one of several dozen sketchers who converged here to draw and share our takes on the impressive landmark and surrounding area. As it often happens when I come to gatherings or join other fellow sketchers to draw, I left the meetup with the sense of accomplishment and peace that comes from making a sketch and sharing it with an always appreciative crowd.
