Award winning artist Joke Frima and “Living Master” (ARALM) is launching the Art d’Apprendre (AdA), Atelier School, a non-profit organisation committed to promoting skill-based art education. The AdA programme is designed to create high-quality expertise to the highest standard of academic fine art training. The Atelier School opens in September 2020 at Joke’s home in rural Burgundy,France.
Frima’s work is exhibited around the world and often features nature and vegetation, inspired by the surrounding countryside and wild beauty of the local landscape.
As a former student and life-long advocate of the legendary Studio Simi in Florence, Italy, Joke Frima believes in following the disciplined academic tradition of drawing and painting following French Academy techniques. AdA, Art d’Apprendre
AdA, is founded by Joke Frima and a group of colleagues and art-lovers. Many of them are former students of Studio Simi and many have been active as contemporary realists for many years. The majority of the co-founders will also play their role as guest or part-time instructors. Read more about the founder members on the AdA website. https://www.ada-skill-based.art/
Who is the AdA programme for?
AdA wants to emphasise that it aims to guide young people beginning their own art journey but in principle, the programme is open to anyone of any age, nationality and background. The student/apprentice must have the desire to acquire the necessary skills to be able to make an accurate representation of nature. A certain degree of natural talent and good motivation count of course, but no experience is required.
International group of students
AdA would like to form an international group of motivated students for the full time programme of three years and in addition, there will also be an introduction trimester and part-time programme.
The part-time student will work in the same group as the full-time students, but will be individually taught and advised and have an individually adapted curriculum.
The Curriculum
The AdA curriculum will specialise in skill based classical fine art training enabling motivated beginners and aspiring artists to acquire the skills for creating Art. Joke Frima is determined to overturn the myth that painting and drawing cannot be learnt.
Using a fresh approach that is built on traditional techniques, a maximum of six students will firstly concentrate on acquiring drawing skills which form the basis for the study of painting.
The Three Year Atelier programme is divided into three years or periods. Each period will be individually adapted depending on the personal development and progress of the student.
Each student will receive individual, expert feedback led by founder Joke Frima throughout the course and occasional classes held by guest artist instructors and co-founders.
IMMERSION
Vissingy is situated in the magnificent Morvan in the Nièvre department of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in central France. It is an exceptional setting where students will enjoy total immersion in art and nature allowing them to focus on the study of drawing and painting. AdA is easy to access by car and only two hours by train from Paris and Lyon. Geneva, Genoa, Florence, Barcelona and more are within reach by train, car or plane.
Because the ADA atelier school is located in a very rural environment, the association has found temporary accommodation for a limited number of students in the hamlet of Vissingy. There is a variety of accommodation to suit all budgets available nearby but it is essential to have your own means of transport.
ENROL NOW!
