CUUB studio is a strong team of diversely talented professionals joined together by a common passion

We started with the inside story of Fitzroy Fitzroy, but thought that the outside deserves its own post.

The heritage brick facade is the first thing you see — original, preserved, dark ironwork and arched windows from when this was a warehouse on Smith Street.

Above the brick, the building continues in a completely different way. White concrete, open balconies, greenery spilling over every level. We wanted to show that transition honestly, because these two parts of the building make no effort to look like they belong to the same era. That contrast is what makes this project special.

The laneway entry, with its climbing plants and a narrow passage, feels more like the entrance to a private estate. And above it all, the rooftop — a garden where the noise of Smith Street below feels like it belongs to a different city entirely.

A warehouse, a tower, a laneway, and a rooftop garden - all in one building! We’re proud of what this set of renders became.

Fitzroy Fitzroy is a project with a strong point of view. You feel it the moment you look at the interiors.

Across the different residence types, there is no single palette, and no house style imposed across every apartment. Some apartments go dark and moody with smoked timber, marble with movement, deep tones that feel more like a private members’ club. Others open up into lighter, warmer spaces with stone island benches, generous natural light and views over the suburb’s rooftops. Each one has its own character, which is rare in a development of this scale.

You can see that the project’s personality lives in the details. The angled skylights cutting through the penthouse ceilings, the built-in bar cabinetry, the freestanding baths, and the kitchen joinery that takes its cues from Fitzroy’s food and fashion culture.

The communal spaces were styled in collaboration with Cult Design, bringing together furniture, lighting, and accessories from over 35 world-renowned brands.

Our job was to give each space its own atmosphere before a single buyer steps through the door.

We talk a lot about work-life balance in the creative industry.
And then we work late, sit in front of our screens all day and somehow forget the life part 😅

So we decided to do something very simple about it.
On September 9, the CUUB team is going for a run.

Different cities, different countries, different distances. No rules really - 2 km or 20 km. The point is just to get outside, move a little and spend some time away from work.

We called it CUUB Marathon.

For now, it’s something we are doing inside the studio. But we have a feeling this might become bigger 🟦

9 years felt like a good reason to slow down, get everyone together and live a little La Dolce Vita 🍋

So for CUUB’s 9th birthday, we brought a piece of the Italian Riviera to our team - long tables, some Aperol, sunshine and music.

Because as much as we love what we create together, it’s the people behind CUUB that make the story worth celebrating.

People in Australia don’t give up outdoor living when they move into an apartment.

The concept of the 333 StK project reaches back to the distinctly Australian idea that home extends beyond four walls into open air and greenery. Here it is translated into generous sunrooms, climbing plants and private outdoor spaces along one of Melbourne’s most iconic boulevards.

For CUUB Studio, the brief was about finding the balance between modern apartment living and the Australian instinct to be outside. We kept in mind that these apartments are designed for people who value a calm lifestyle, comfort, and a connection to nature while still being close to the city. We moved away from dramatic lighting and strong contrasts, choosing soft natural daylight with a warm touch of the Australian sun. The goal was to show the building at its most liveable, where the lines between interior, greenery, and city gently blur.

9 years ago, CUUB was just an idea.

Today, it’s a journey made of hundreds of projects, bold decisions, late nights, big wins, and a lot of moments we will never forget.

But after all these years, our greatest value is still the same: the people behind CUUB. The ones who bring the ideas, energy, talent, care, and make this studio what it is every single day.

We have changed a lot. Grown even more.
And we are incredibly proud of what we are building together.

Nature is one of the most powerful compositional tools in the frame.

A good architectural render doesn’t always just show the building. We believe it’s more important to feel the space around it and sometimes, to let nature lead. Greenery helps people immerse in the environment. It shapes the architectural frame for how people see and understand the environment.

Trees create visual hierarchy, directing where the eye goes, balancing the repetition of facades, and in some frames, taking the foreground entirely. Through greenery, people can adjust and guide the viewer’s attention, drawing focus to where the architecture forms and lives within its natural surroundings. Somebody may think the architecture steps back, but it does not. It is just the best way to show the atmosphere around the building and how it feels to be there.

When a building is treated as part of its environment rather than the centre of it, people read the image differently. They stop studying the facade and start imagining walking down that street, sitting in that garden, feeling the shade of those trees on a summer afternoon.

Nature as a compositional tool can turn a building into a place where people forget they’re looking at a render. They are already imagining spending a Tuesday afternoon there.

Some months are quieter. These two aren’t.
This summer and fall, CUUB’s team is showing up where the industry is thinking out loud — in conference rooms, on stage, and on jury panels. Here’s what’s coming next on our calendar.

On the road
Our team will be heading to Forward Festival in Berlin, 27–28 August, and right after that, you can catch us at D2 Conference in Budapest on 4–5 September. These are two gatherings that bring together creative and business leaders, thinking seriously about where the industry is going.

On the jury
Our CEO, Alina Godunova, is sitting on three international juries: FRAME Awards 2026, Architizer Vision Awards 2026, and Archibest House of the Future 2026. Three competitions across architecture, visualization, and design, and three different lenses on what design can be right now.

Berlin, Budapest, or a jury panel — we are happy to catch up somewhere in between!

Why do most medical spaces look and feel the same? White walls, long corridors, the quiet anxiety of not knowing where to go. Everything designed to make you anxious before you’ve even arrived.

Deicke Richards approached this as a community space that provides healthcare. Warm materials, generous landscaping, open gathering areas, and a building that doesn’t intimidate the people who need it most. ATSICHS Health Hub in Logan is what that looks like in practice.

What makes it meaningful is how First Nations culture is woven into the architecture itself. The history of the Yagara and Yugambeh people is present in the building’s bones. Indigenous artwork runs through the facade screening and deep into the interior — the wayfinding, the children’s spaces, the materials on the walls.

CUUB Studio worked on the visual content, helping translate that thinking into imagery — the culture, the care, the intention behind each design decision. Our goal was to make care visible.
