Benchless tells the story of Rody, Doug, and Fred who bicker over a bench in a park. The streets have erased their age and past. Who can still tell who they once were? One day, Fred finds a lost smartphone during a political demonstration. He brings it back to the park. They want to call someone, but who? Everyone has either abandoned or forgotten them. They browse through the contact list and each decide to call someone.

Celebrating Excellence: Meet Galiam Bruno Henry, winner of the 2026 Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase 🏆✨

On the heels of our dynamic live screening during the Festival de Cannes, we are incredibly proud to spotlight the brilliant creative mind behind "Benchless", this year's winning film.

Galiam Bruno Henry is a French actor of Afro-Caribbean descent, born in Bordeaux. After three years of theater training with Dominique Viriot, he landed a role in Monsieur Amédée alongside Michel Galabru and Bernadette Lafont.

He has since built a solid career in theater, performing in plays such as Antigone, Pygmalion, Of Mice and Men, and Ma Tatie Alfred under the direction of prominent stage directors.

His television credits include Une Histoire à Ma Fille, Un Gars Une Fille with Jean Dujardin, Enquêtes Réservées, and Les Jurés.

On the big screen, he has starred in Livraisons à Domicile, 8th Wonderland, Dernier Étage Gauche Gauche, Midnight Globe, and W.A.K.A. He also appeared in China Salesman alongside Mike Tyson and Steven Seagal, as well as in Saloum, Vaurien, and Les Chèvres directed by Fred Cavayé.

As a voice actor, he is the French dubbing voice for actors such as Tyrese Gibson, Derek Luke, Djimon Hounsou, Glenn Plummer, Terrence Howard, and Jimmy Jean-Louis.

His directorial debut, the short film Le Service, written by Maryline Mahieu, has won 48 international awards and was acquired for television broadcast by Guadeloupe 1ère.

He has also written the play Coach Toi Pov’Con and is currently working on his first feature film Le Chant des Ratières, supported by the Guadeloupe Region and pre- acquired by Canal Plus Antilles."
