Malraux local legend sergedefreitas, seen here in 1998 at the spot (our venue for this year!), shot by Grégoire Grange . Serge was one of the first pro skateboarders to come out of Bordeaux, so it only made sense to premiere his 2026 video part (filmed by ) on September 24th, at the very same spot, for the opening of CONNECT.

To close the opening night, Serge will also perform his own live acid house set. Don’t miss it.

You’ll also be able to discover archive photos shot at Malraux in the 90s by Grégoire Grange and Freak Fabric , displayed directly on site.

Panel Talk : « Failure is an antidote to success » with Legendary SD skater BRANDON TURNER

In this presentation, Brandon Turner will explore the relationship between failure, courage, and growth through the lens of skateboarding and lived experience. He reflects on how the same mentality that allows a skateboarder to fall repeatedly, learn, adjust, and try again became one of the most important tools in his own recovery and return to purpose.

For Brandon , skateboarding is one of life’s most honest teachers, falling is not a possibility, it is inevitable. What matters is what we learn when we get back up.

Moving between stories of success, adversity, recovery, and reinvention, Failure Is an Antidote to Success looks at how failure can become a source of insight, perseverance, and ultimately greater purpose,, in skateboarding and far beyond it.

Getting Schooled by the Streets with the great John Dahlquist aka : A special street workshop about skateboarding, education, and seeing the city as a classroom.

John Dahlquist, from the amazing Bryggeriets gymnasium, Malmö Sweden is a skater, teacher and principal who has spent the last 20 years building skateboarding as a school subject and rub bricked the school system to make it skateable. One of his interests is learning environments and the concept of class rooms. In his Connect workshop participants will get to experiment and experience how different environments affect learning. What if math class was taught at a bank or store where Math is actually used? Skateboarding shows the way to applied learning.

Getting Schooled by the Streets will explore how the urban environment can become a space for both skateboarding and learning. Through a one-hour experimental workshop, participants are invited to look at the city differently, using skateboarding to question how we interact with, understand and learn from our surroundings. Don’t miss this opportunity!

Where : At the Miroir d’eau in the heart of Bordeaux on the new and old CONNECT skateable sculptures.

When : Friday the 25th of September at 3pm (one hour lenght)

CONNECT 26 panel talk : INCLUSIVE SKATEURBANISM with BELLA WARLEY & HARRY MEADLEY 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Bella Warley is Skateboard GB’s Skateable Space Development Officer and has spent the past ten years developing inclusive skateboarding programmes, community projects and skateable spaces across the UK. Harry Meadley is a skateboarder, artist and researcher whose work explores the relationship between skateboarding, public institutions and marginalised communities.

As skate urbanism is one of the rare examples of a community with real input into the design and policy of public space, this conversation asks: how can we make this process—and therefore our cities—even more inclusive? What happens when we treat inclusion as a relational human practice, rather than simply a design feature? How do we move from bonding communities to bridging them? What does it really mean to collaborate? How can we demarginalise marginalised skaters while keeping skateboarding itself marginal? And ultimately, what does successful skate urbanism even look like?

CONNECT 26 panel talk:
« The Janwaar Way: A Nomad’s Compass to Change That Holds » by Ulrike Reinhard

CONNECT Skaturbanism Festival is proud to welcome German social entrepreneur Ulrike Reinhard for a talk as part of its 2026 edition.

In 2015, Ulrike founded the Janwaar Skatepark in a rural village in India, using skateboarding as a tool for education, inclusion and community development focusing on the youth, boys and girls alike. The project has become an internationally recognised example of how skateboarding can create lasting social change.

Ulrike will come to CONNECT to share the story of the Janwaar Way. Through a decade of experience, she will reflect on what it really means to build change from the ground up, and how skateboarding can empower communities far beyond the skatepark.

Connect will take place on September 24-27 in Bordeaux, France. See you there! 🌎🫂

CONNECT 26 panel talk: « Sustainable Skate Environments » by WHITE ARKITEKTER / JOSEFIN NORÉN ALMÉN & FREDRIK ANGNER

Environmental sustainability is becoming an increasingly important part of how we plan cities and public spaces. But what does that mean for skateable spaces?

At CONNECT, Swedish landscape architects Josefin Norén Almén and Fredrik Angner, from White Arkitekter, will present the ongoing research project « Sustainable Skate Environments », developed in collaboration with the Swedish Skateboard Federation.

Drawing on conversations with designers, skate urbanists, skatepark builders and researchers, the presentation explores themes such as longevity, flexibility, materials, reuse and climate adaptation, and how these can inform the planning and management of more environmentally sustainable skate projects.

Josefin and Fredrik have spent several years researching how skateable spaces can become more inclusive, better integrated into cities and more environmentally sustainable. Their work brings together landscape architecture, public space and skateboarding to explore new approaches to designing cities for the future.
