Manon Letort exhibits White Rocks. These images reflect the notion of life within an deserted space. It is concerned with the profusion of different plants, the abandonment of the place, and how the emptiness becomes the driving force of the physical, creative and artistic movement, but also a fertile soil for reflection and production.

A detail from "Ek(g)oċidju" by Thomas Scerri as part of the collective exhibition 'Remnant' being exhibited in the National Arena Gallery at the ENSP, Arles, France.

‘Ek(g)oċidju’ is a play on the words ‘ecocide’ and ‘egocide', reflecting on the notion of unsustainable development and the indifference towards it.

Remnant

‘Remnant’ is a collective exhibition in which a group of Maltese and French artists were invited to collaborate and display their artwork within the gallery of the National School for Photography (ENSP*) in Arles, as part of their international programme, between the 13th and the 17th of May 2019. The exhibition allows for the exploration of photography beyond its traditional form and parameters, by making use of new-media processes such as 3D printing, video and multimedia installation.

The body of work which will be exhibited in this collective show shares common themes in the areas of socio-political reactions to the Maltese urban environment. Curated by the renowned Japanese photographer Tadashi Ono, ‘Remnant’ will focus on the exploration of the Maltese identity through its culture and representations in historical, traditional and contemporary architecture, as well as through research derived from the National Archives of Malta.

This collaboration allows for artistic development and creation, networking and the potential of forging strong relationships with international professionals within the visual arts. Participation on this international platform will not only offer a great opportunity to explore a multi-disciplinary artistic activities and develop independently driven practices but will also serve as a showcase for the Maltese landscape in an international context.
