Ok, we’re nearly there. The biggest thing in live comedy in the P.O. since…well, I guess the Vallespir Comedy Club. Anyway, this Saturday night (27th July), an evening of Stand-up Comedy – in English – at the Théâtre de Verdure in Céret.

The venue’s behind the Musée de la Musique, near the front door of the Salle de l’Union. It’s outdoor, if you hadn’t noticed or been before. Nearest parking the Parking des Marroniers (followed by Henri Guitard).

The doors will open at 19h, and we’re setting up a bar with beer from Cap d'Ona l'officiel and wine from Domaine Treloar Vineyard and Winery. Tickets will be available on the door; those good people who have booked in advance will just sail through 😊. Tickets are priced at an extraordinarily low 8€ and if you happened to bring the right money, it would help (or book NOW www.amefrance.com ).

We’ll start at 20h05 – no Catalan 15 minutes for us – and will have an interval half-way through, finishing at around 22h. The bar will be open afterwards, until we’ve emptied the barrel, so to speak. Then some of us will move up to the Le Comptoir des Arcades for an after-party, where Adam has promised to buy us all a drink (that, my friends, is what’s called a JOKE). The minibus back to Amélie will leave at around 22h15 – let me know if you’d like to be on it.

There may be some adult content, and there will be plenty of funny material from Hannah and Adam, plus plenty of material from me. See you there! Any questions?

For anyone up in the Conflent area, or prepared to make the trip up the valley, we're performing in Villefranche de Conflent on Saturday 8th October. An evening to raise funds for Ukraine; tickets on the door, on a pay-what-you-can basis. It's part of the Worldwide Ukrainian Readings Project; all the short plays we'll be reading have been written since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, based on the playwrights' personal experiences. In English at 6pm, in French at 8pm

Envie de participer à des activités artistiques locales ? L'ACAV est l'association qui organise le festival international des arts 'Les Inédits' à Amélie-les-Bains-Palalda en septembre. Une cotisation annuelle de 15 € suffit à nous soutenir (et à montrer aux financeurs que nous avons une large base de soutien). Les membres peuvent s'impliquer dans la planification ou l'organisation du festival, et sont invités au lancement du festival et aux vernissages des expositions. Fancy getting involved with arts stuff locally (it'll look good on your nationality application!)? ACAV is a bi-lingual (French/English) association, which runs the Les Inédits international arts festival in Amélie-les-Bains-Palalda in September. Just €15 annual membership supports us (and shows the funders that we have a broad base of support). Members can get involved in festival planning or organisation, and are invited to the Festival launch and exhibition previews. We're working on other benefits too. A l'occasion du Festival Les Inédits, entre autres diverses animations artistiques et culturelles, une scène sera dédiée aux musiciens (auteurs compositeurs interpètes) vendredi le 2 septembre. « Les Inédits d’Amélie »
Un nouveau festival pour Amélie-les-Bains-Palalda s’annonce pour la rentrée, vendredi 2 et samedi 3 septembre.

« Les Inédits d’Amélie », c’est un festival international des arts, tous les arts…
Parmi les formes d'art représentées, théâtre, musique et arts plastiques, cinéma, poésie, stand-up, et les arts de la rue.
Organisé par l’Association pour la Culture et les Arts en Vallespir, un groupe de commerçants, de professionnels et d'artistes tous liés à Amélie les Bains, ont uni leurs forces pour créer cet événement.
L’équipe est managée par Ian Stephens, directeur de théâtre, installé à Amélie les Bains et qui a déjà montré ses talents de professionnel des arts et spectacles à Amélie les Bains mais aussi à l’étranger. Le festival est soutenu par la commune d’Amélie les Bains et le Département des Pyrénées-Orientales.
Parmi les événements déjà dévoilés figurent deux "scènes ouvertes", l'une musicale et l'autre stand-up, pour lesquelles des candidatures sont sollicitées.
