Chinese Youth Social & Cultural Association - Fiji The Chinese Youth Social & Cultural Association have been performing since 1972, providing Fiji with Chinese cultural performances. Vinaka, Thank You, Xie Xie.

The Chinese Youth Social & Cultural Association have been performing since 1972, providing Fiji with Chinese cultural performances that are powerful and breath-taking and also graceful and filled with elegance. The group represents the Chinese community in Fiji and one of its famous trademark's is the annual event known as the "Streets". This is where members of the Youth perform around Suva City

and, in particular, for the Chinese businesses, to bring good luck and prosperity. The group has many dances to cater for a wide range of tastes, performed by both girls & boys. Firstly, we have the Fan & Chopstick Dance performed by the girls group. A soft and gentle blend of colours and elegance, beauty and gracefulness. Secondly, we have the boys group which performs the traditional, high energy Lion and Dragon dance that are composed with breathtaking and highly entertaining stunts. Finally, we also have the Taiko Drumming, a show of pure synchronistic entertainment, of which the participants include both girls and boys. In order to achieve such entertainment, the members of the Chinese Youth sacrifice their personal time to practise and a lot of hardwork is done to perfect and co-ordinate dance routines that not only provide a high level of entertainment but to also ensure the safety of the performers, an ever constant thought. Dances are also continuously being created or re-done so as to never bore the audience. The Youth provides entertainment to all, from the well known streets of the capital city, to the posh lobbies of some of Fiji's finest hotels. The Youth also performs for private or public events. The Chinese Youth also provides many experiences for its members, from learning Chinese cultural and traditional dances to socializing with and meeting many different people from many social, cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. To all members, both old and new, Welcome to the Chinese Youth Social & Cultural Association of Fiji.

The Youth is saddened by the news of the passing of our dear friend and trustee Mr Dixon Seeto. Our deepest condolences to the Seeto family especially to Jenny and Gareth. Dixon had helped drive the Chinese Youth from when he himself was a member doing the lion dance till where is it is today. He supported the group when we had performances and gave advice to the executives on how the group could improve in key areas or his suggestions on how to do things even though he had a busy schedule. His support during performances and commending on a “ job well done” with an unforgettable smile were the little sprinkles of moments he gifted us with . A wise and humble man that will surely be missed by all the members, past and present. If you knew Mr. Seeto personally, you would know just how much of a humble and caring person he was. Most of us in the youth will remember him for his story he would tell to all the members that he met his wife Jenny in the Youth when they were both members in those days. The youth has lost a beautiful soul but heaven has gained an angel. Rest In God’s love Mr. Seeto ❤.
