🌟 Local Film-maker Goes International

🎬Presenting Tumeli Tuqota, a talented graphic designer and emerging producer who is making an enduring impact on Fiji's film industry. Meli harbors a fervent passion for fostering greater creativity in the region. With an impressive portfolio featuring two critically acclaimed shorts, Tumeli is poised to make a lasting impression on the global stage.

We are pleased to announce that Meli is also preparing to present one of his short films, "Jone Wise," proudly sponsored by Lami Kava, at the Festival Rochefort Pacifique Cinéma & Littérature.

🎥Embark on a comedic journey with "Jone Wise" as he navigates the whimsical world of grog sessions and the unspoken rules of flip-flop ownership. Tumeli's unwavering dedication to spotlighting Pacific culture shines brightly in this uproarious narrative.

This project symbolizes a collaborative effort by a group of local enthusiasts united by a shared vision—to skillfully showcase our Fijian way of life on screen through humour, leveraging their collective talents. Lami Kava has generously supported this production by contributing to the film’s budget.

Meli was also part of the Fiji Producers Accelerator Program in 2023, organized by Film Fiji and supported by the Pacific Community (SPC) and the European Union.

🌟 Meet Benjamin Wheeler, a seasoned filmmaker and arts advocate based in Fiji.

🎬 Ben has been an influential force in promoting Fijian and Pacific Islander cinema, channelling his efforts into impactful projects like The Patience Project and co-founding and directing the RARAMA Fijian Short Film Festival and SPC/USP Pacific Human Rights Film Festival.

"In the nearly 5 years I have lived here, I’ve been lucky enough to meet and work with some of Fiji’s most talented creatives. So much has been achieved by these members of the arts sector, and always on the back of passion, hard work, and dedication. It’s incredibly impressive," said Mr. Wheeler.

We are delighted to announce that one of Ben's short films, titled 'The Patience Project,' will be showcased at the Festival Rochefort Pacifique Cinéma & Littérature .

🎥The short film was a collaborative effort, born during the COVID lockdowns. It features the works of Ben and other talented local artists such as Tevita Tobeyaweni, Zen Waqavonovono, Sharleen Ali, Jed Tayler, Atunaisa Laqeretabua, Maureen Angelee Mortel, and Demetria Tawake.
