Today we visited a fellow ropemaker, Ulvilan köysipunomo with Mikko Snellman. Professional and clearly experienced, big range of types of ropework which she does and happy to learn more! Looking forward to more meetings already ☺️ Link to her website in comments!

At the All about knots event in autumn we will be presenting the different stages of making rope; From fiber to rope. Our crew has gathered to practice beating the h**p, hatchelling and spinning yarn. Eventually we were able to produce a 3m long rope as shown in the picture. Imagine;
Four people, 8 hours and 3m rope. Respect to the people who used to do this by hand in the old days 💁🏽‍♀️🎩

A funny way to explain what ropes mean in the Japanese religion Shintoism 😂
I’ve always adored Japan, and I can relate to these thoughts on why i’d put rope around a huge tree of rock 😂 I too have a love for big majestic creations by Mother Nature 🪨🪾

It’s been oh so quiet… shhh, shhh….

Since I moved from the comforts of my basement, I’ve not had a ropewalk, nor a proper studio, so I’ve mainly just unboxed boxes, knitted and worked at my 9-5.
My life has started to settle, abit, and I’ve gotten more time and energy to do some fancy work and ropes. Luckily I have a father near by who also happens to be a ropemaker, so I can go there and play with his machines, which I had the oportunity to do this weekend! Jolly good fun, sure had missed spinning that yarn!
The shop is still opening, soon, but first I need to find a place to build my ropewalk at 🤔
Slowly but surely, one step at a time. Now it’s time to search and prepare for the upcoming season with merchendice!
Father borrowed his gun tackle, or luff tackle…. Or perhaps it was the double purchase jig…
whatever the name, I’ll try to set it up at home someday to make some rope for earrings, bracelets and fobs.
