Arctic Ceramic Centre CERAMIC ARTISTS' STORIES IN POSIO The idea of Arctic Ceramic Centre was born in one of the local EU projects in years 2009 – 2012.

In this project the first ArcticClay-symposiums were arranged with a very intensive support by Korean ceramist Suku Park who lives in Posio and Anu Pentik who is the art director of local ceramic company Pentik Oy in Posio. As a result of this project the feasibility study of the possibilities to have the ceramic center in Posio was created. The idea of ACC was developed further in a project

“Ceramic Center Lapland, Posio” in year 2013. The next international symposium was arranged during the project. One of the achievements in this project was to combine the local culture and tourism into the program of the symposium. As a result the local people, tourists in the area and ceramists were more in a dynamic interaction with each others. This was a very positive experience for all parties. In the feasibility study the best location for ACC in Posio was found to be hotel Kirikeskus “the wilderness hotel” in Kirintövaara about 6 km from the centre of the village. Professor Suku Park created a plan for the space and future activities of the ACC. The letter of intent was signed with the Development Company of Posio to establish ACC and to safeguard its future activities in Posio. The owner if hotel Kirikeskus Reijo Lantto made the necessary investments for space and the equipments. Since 2014 Arctic Ceramic Centre has been hosting international ceramic symposiums. Symposiums are an annual event (depending the year there are one or two symposiums).
* Those ones that are interested in applying for the symposiums we advice you to contact our Art Director Mr. Suku Park ([email protected]). Artists should send him their CV and information about their previous art work.
* The requirements of each symposiums will be decided depending the theme of the symposium. For art students applying for the symposium we require recommendation from a professor.
* In 2017 we will most likely have a spring symposium the fix dates and deadline for it will be informed as soon as possible.

Kaiku - The Echoes of six Korean Ceramists exhibition is held at the Arctic Ceramic Centre from the 28th of October until end of February.

Kuuden korealaisen keraamikon Kaiku-näyttely saapuu Posiolle Arktiseen keramiikkakeskukseen, joka sijaitsee Erämaahotelli Kirikeskuksen tiloissa osoitteessa Kiririnteentie 1. Näyttely on avoinna 29.10.

Here we go!

Less than 24 hours to go before the start of the 2021 IAC Congress! We hope you’re looking forward to it as much as the IAC team is! Here as a reminder of the line-up are images of the 17 speakers and presenters. In addition to their slots there will be 19 features in the Breakout Sessions, numerous exhibitions to explore and plentiful time for questions and answers. The 49th IAC Congress will be held online from 22-23 September 2021 (from 13h00 - 20h00 (UTC+3) on both days). All registered attendees will have access to all Congress content live and for 1 week afterwards.
