Photography has been Valerie's passion since she was a young adult. Using this year to transition from “I’d like to see that someday” into “I’m going to go see that now.” Realizing I don’t need to stay in the same place as much as I have been. Excited to keep exploring a little farther and see where it leads.

Reading a book published in 1986 where so many of the issues are so relevant to today. These are just a few excerpts that resonated with me and make me wonder how much this way of questioning and thinking still holds now.

Quotes by Barry Lopez, landscape photos by me.

A couple of stained glass panels I completed recently. Fuzz always needs to be center of attention 🐈‍⬛ One was very time intensive, but the simpler piece ended up fitting the space best.

Getting lost in the simplicity of winter landscapes. We admired the rime ice covered trees, wind snow sculptures, and empty rolling hills that felt like we were in an Arctic tundra.

A couple shots from our recent winter camping trip. A change of routine to mix things up, flying squirrel frenemy, and a brief alpenglow sunrise.

Once we switched the SNoFLINGA Enchanting event to Clark Park, I knew this tree grove needed some special attention. I created 23 ice candles to add a cozy, inviting glow, and with the help of volunteers we wrapped the trees with string lights and made it a unique night at the park.

The illuminated space also became part of the Kid’s Quest led by Melissa Wanamaker that families really loved.

Remembering this Siberian Jay on top of Valtavaara Peak. Their cozy orange plumage was like a cozy hug amongst the cool blue landscape.

Photo is from last year’s February vacation to Finland.

The Enchanting M for was born from a simple idea: create joy, warm fuzzies, and a little bit of whimsy. It’s about coloring the night, encouraging movement and appreciation of the winter night, and creating magic that makes people smile.

If you’d like to help create magic, I’m especially looking for volunteers to help with light setup and takedown:

Friday (Setup): 10:00am-4:00pm (the more volunteers, the sooner we’re done!)
Saturday (During event): 5:30-8:45pm
Sunday (Takedown): 10:00am-4:00pm

Come create magic with us ✨

A couple photo memories from this holiday break. Hunting for good snow, clearing trees from the trails after December’s wind storm, and stopping to admire winter’s frost artwork.
