🏡 Late summer is a good time for a maintenance check ☀️

Across much of Europe, the days are still warm and bright in mid-August, making it a good time to inspect the exterior of your log home or holiday home.

Take a moment to check the condition of the log surfaces and terraces, and make sure rainwater is directed safely away from the building. 🔍🌧️

Regular inspections and taking care of small maintenance needs early help keep a log building in good condition for years to come. Many of the tasks are similar to those required for any detached home: monitoring exterior surfaces, moisture management and rainwater drainage is essential. 🛠️

The same log home model can be designed in either a traditional or modern style. These adaptations make it possible to create a home that suits the plot, its surroundings and the needs of the people living there. 💚

We’re often asked whether our log home models can be customized and what kind of costs the changes involve. 🏡

The answer is yes. Our ready-made models provide a solid starting point, and they can be adapted in many ways to suit individual needs and preferences. We do not charge separately for modifications. Costs are only affected by added or removed materials.

Examples of customizable features include:

▪️ Roof style
▪️ Room sizes and layouts
▪️ Building dimensions
▪️ Window and door styles and sizes

The most important thing is to find a model with an architectural style and overall idea that feels right to you. From there, the home can be developed further together with your nearest Kuusamo Representative.

We are often asked: Where are our log homes made? 🏡🌲

As the name suggests, Kuusamo Log Houses is a family company founded in Kuusamo, and our log home factory is located in Northern Finland, in Kuusamo.

Our northern roots are also reflected in the raw material we use. The most important material in our log homes is Northern wood, growing on both sides of the Arctic Circle. Trees that grow in the north have a high proportion of heartwood, which makes them a durable and highly valued material for log construction.

The raw material is processed and supplied by our long-term partner, the Kuusamo-based company Pölkky Oy. Working with a local partner helps ensure consistent quality and means that the story of our log homes begins already in the northern forests.

Designed and manufactured in Kuusamo, a Finnish log home is the result of the work of many local professionals. 🤝
